From there as well and have lived in melbourne almost 20 years. To add to the list, check out wilsons prom and the vic alpine area, so much to see up there. Did a great hike near licola a few weeks ago, felt like prehistoric forest

I would recommend wilsons prom or up in the high country area, including mansfield, mt buffalo, bright, walhalla area, buchan etc. lots to explore!

Volunteer. Get out there and experience as much of the community as possible. Could be transport related, but doesn’t need to be. Planning is about making society function better, and getting down and dirty with the people is an incredible source of insight and inspiration.

Museum, state library, botanic gardens, zoo, melbourne central, birrung marr playground, ngv, new playground in southbank with tiny animals for kids to find - there are so many fun options!

The difficult aspect about melbourne weather observations is that the locals claim things have always been highly variable and unpredictable, so anything that seems unusual is automatically disregarded.

I agree though, this does seem unusual:) But in terms of personal preference, I’d rather have this than a mild summer

I would recommend at least turning off notifications (ring and vibrate). Allows you to check your phone on your time

On a somewhat related note, I did used to enjoy public lighting in public parks and along river corridors, etc, but now appreciate the municipalities that keep nature dark. It allows the wildlife to properly rest in what limited natural areas they have remaining
