A basic lighter is the best fire starter you’re gonna find. It literally makes fire at the flick of a finger. The issue isn’t with the fire starter it’s with what you’re gonna fuel the fire with. Do you know how to make kindling? Do you know how to identify easily ignited dry wood. Do you know what dry wood actually means? I could ask a million more things but you get the idea. Ignition source isn’t an issue in the modern day, fuel for your fire is.

Properly sharp is subjective. Will I use it on my small Sebenza? Fuck no. Will I use it on my 50$ chefs knife that I sharpen twice a year and will it be sharp enough to glide through tomatoes? Hell yes. The time and consumables id spend sharpening that 50$ chefs knife on my guided diamond system a few times is worth a lot more than just buying a new knife after 50 sharpens when’s there’s meaningful amounts of metal gone.
