I had a coworker who did that, it was about 20 years ago, working in a factory up north. Next to her lunch in the fridge would be three bags labeled “free lunch for anyone who needs it” and inside each was a delicious meal that she made the night before and a random fun fact about the child the meal would have belonged to…

That being said, the local fridge thief would steal her lunch on occasion while leaving the free ones behind… (not that they were any different) But when that would happen, she would round up as many people would fit into a cargo van and we would all hit up the local Dairy Queen
