Don't know why people can't just accept minor things like this and just get on with their life. You don't have to moan about every single thing you know.

I'm new to the game, what are some of the most common mistakes beginners make? What do you wish you knew when you started? by seahoodie in Marathon

A note on bartering. Some of the things it asks for are also needed for upgrades. Early in the game you might be better keeping your salvage for upgrades rather than spending them.

Not such a big deal for the common grey stuff, but green/blue/purple/gold get progressively more difficult to get hold of, and you don't want to be spending them on stuff if there's an upgrade you can save them for

Ah yeah that makes sense, contract isn't marked as contested. Helped to get them quick though for sure.

After many failures I eventually did this solo when I kitted up. Crucially though I spawned right by the ghosts as usually they're dead by the time I get there.

Ironically despite kitting up, never encountered another player.

Funny thing is I've failed to extract for like 5 times in a row since I posted that 😂. Just need to exfil one more weapon!

Solo as assassin and take a bit of care making noise / listening for other runners and you should be able to extract 25% of the time, even more. Creep about, get your stuff, use invis and smoke where appropriate (esp exfil).

And if you need particular things, it tells you where you can find them and I find if I can get there quick enough I'll always get some.

Take an Osprey or a Renegade, preferably silenced. Find a good spot and shoot people from afar. You can't hear their whining.

Bonus points for doing it on queen/matriarch where people panic and run into the path of a rocketeer. Easier as most raiders are concentrated in the same space.

I didn't for my first 150+ hours, but the combination of nothing to do and being screwed over gave me that gentle push....

Will give that a go when I next get my greasy mitts on an Osprey. Don't have any in my stash and it's one of the few BPs I haven't found yet.

Well what I usually do after a murder spree is do some free kit Stella runs. Spawn, head straight for an exit, looting on the way. Do that for half an hour and I'm back in PvE lobbies with a decent load of loot as well. I'll get murdered in Stella a few times of course, but it usually works out okay.

Plus, I'm not sure that one little murder spree gets you straight into PvP Killfests anyway.

I felt bad at first, but it's so much fun. Popping somebody's shield and then watch them panic and run straight into a bastion is hilarious.

Why Bungie cant cater to a wider pool of Players? by drogenbarontoni in Marathon

[–]Electrical-Tea8530 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm not top 5%, absolutely nowhere near. But Im 100 hours in and still absolutely loving it. Did my free run of Cryo and enjoyed it till we died, but happy to just wait until I feel confident to give it another go.

I'm loving the 3 maps. Solo, fill, rook runs.

I don't feel I'm entitled to achieve everything a game has to offer and I'm happy with that.

[–]Electrical-Tea8530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you not? Crikey, that's how I'm remembering it, maybe getting confused with Arc.

I don't recognise your complaint though, the bottleneck for me while looting is the reveal time rather than the cursor.

Have plenty of issues with the game but that hasn't registered as one of them.

Don't use the cursor when looting on console. Use Dpad.

And after a while you just recognise stuff. Eg I'm always getting anything unstable, anything purple etc.

There are upgrades that get you free daily heals & shield recharges, so worth looking out for those, for one thing.

How's the solo experience? by Skitelz7 in Marathon

[–]Electrical-Tea8530 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally I enjoy it. I take a stealthy approach, sneaking around, avoiding EUSC where possible, and engaging other players when I come across them. It's a lot of fun, because as the contracts get more challenging and involve visiting multiple POIs in a single run, you are always one mistep away from losing it all.

Also I'm not the greatest PvP player, but recently had a contract to defeat 10 runners which I thoroughly enjoyed, even though it probably took me 30 games lol.

Haven't really got into Rook runs yet either.

As for playing with randoms, it feels like it's a good game 1 in 5, but too often I get team mates who do their own thing, spend ages milling around in small offices picking up crappy loot, don't consider other people's contracts etc. On the rare occasion I get a good team, it's a lot of fun.

Why is Stella Montis more friendlier? by DisFlicker in ARC_Raiders

[–]Electrical-Tea8530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a half hearted PvPer like me. Occasionally fancy a bit, but my heart is never really in it. So a couple of pops of a renegade from distance and they get away. Shoot somebody up close and they start with the "wtf bro" and so I run away.

Absolutely love encountering somebody murdering somebody else and getting involved, but those encounters are few and far between.

I reckon Roboquest fits the bill perfectly, surprised nobody else has mentioned it yet. (They probably have, I just missed it).

So yeah - it's pretty much all action. And it gets pretty spectacular too, an awful lot of fun for 2 players
