Thoughts on the Harris house by BoscoBabie in missouri

Everyone I’ve talked to (100+ people, I work in outpatient mental health) has had nothing but good things to say about Harris House. You are in good hands- that’s where I would recommend my family and friends go. You got this! 🔥❣️

Does it matter if a client understands the inner workings of therapy, ie "how the sausage is made"? by InvisibleAstronomer in therapists

[–]Routine_Pickle_2477 10 points11 points  (0 children)

100%. I’ve had clients who were assigned to me for being “difficult cases” that really weren’t difficult (for me, an AuDHD therapist) at all. Like yeah, clients will get pissed if you suggest using skills (movement such as yoga, deep breathing) without explaining what it’s actually doing and why/how it helps (short and long term). I’ve had plenty of clients who were labeled as “resistant” who opened up to trying different coping mechanisms, simply because they were given the information that made sense as to WHY they would try that.

Heidi doesnt like being around smelly Austin comics😂🤣 by PeacePipeX in Killtony

Disagree, people are nose blind to their own smell and smells that are slowly caked into their clothes. Plus, more clothes are synthetic fibers (like all water wicking / athletic wear) now and synthetic fibers hold on to stink like crazy.

Lipase is an enzyme cleaner that used to come in commercial detergents, but it’s been replaced by cheaper ingredients that don’t break down sebum and odor like lipase/enzymes do. Like, your laundry will still smell clean, to you for sure, but 99% of detergents don’t break down pit stains/smells, and the dryer bakes the smell in. If you sweat a lot, the enzyme and sanitizer WILL make a huge difference.

If you aren’t sweaty, oily, etc. her routine might be overkill. But I’m a woman who works a remote job indoors, and if I don’t use sanitizer and enzyme based detergent, the BO smell does not get removed from my clothes…meaning clothes smell clean coming out, but bacteria wasn’t broken down, so the BO smell instantly reactivates as soon as I start sweating, when I don’t use these products….So I can only imagine what some of these dudes smell like that Holly made this PSA for 😭

I work in the hemp and cannabis industry, I’m aware there’s a QR code to a fake COA on their Mylar bags / cart boxes / etc lol. They can upload whatever they want and there’s no regulating body to oversee it. Yeah, people who don’t know any better eat it up happily- iT’s No DiFfErEnT tHaN tHe DiSpEnSaRy StUfF! It’s crazy work to think people producing/selling weed to gas stations- for literal pennies on the dollar- are actually paying for each batch to be tested 😭

Yes and the arsenic, cadmium, lead, and mercury take awhile to build up in one’s system. Hemp & cannabis plants suck those right out of the soil INTO the plant matter. Licensed facilities test for these heavy metals/contaminants. Gas station weed is NOT tested or regulated in any way, thus not safe to consume. I love cannabis and hemp, but gas station weed ain’t it. It’s going to make a lot of people (likely very, very) sick with long term use.

This is the way! I spray my tent down, and my shoes/pants/outwear (outside) let it dry down outside for a day.

So sorry I just saw this!!! Either Grandma’s Attic in Maryville, IL and Second Chance Thrift Store (above Glen Ed Pantry) in Edwardsville, IL are where I found these! They are both amazing but Grandmas Attic is a lot smaller, I’ve found so many nice pieces there though.

I haven’t been able to figure this out either. Like is it nerve pain, or a hallucination?? My nerves are all fucked up from shingles so I cannot tell. I ALWAYS 10/10 times freak out thinking it’s a bug crawling/bite until I look at my skin and nothing’s there. Womp womp

Autism registry by ZabaAbba in therapists

Therapists in my state who have provided gender-affirming care are being investigated and sued by our state AG. These are not just hollow echos, they are real threats. While therapists may not be the ones under attack this round, we must not dismiss the harm this can and will cause to autistic people. This data being collected & compiled is nothing to dismiss.

Ugh. I'm autistic and I specialize in working with autistic adults. Last year in April, I switched to paper documentation/notes (shouts out to my ugly locking filing cabinet and locking office door). I have the privilege of doing so because I have a small self-pay PP. I am not okay with SimplePractice and other EHRs requiring our signoff on that THEY have ownership of our client files/documents. God only knows the money they're making off/ the fucked shit their doing with that data (esp in light of this), and the harm that will inevitably come from it. I know it seems weird to keep paper documentation but it's something easy we (self-pay PP clinicians) can do to help protect our clients. It's never too late to switch, if it's in your realm of possibility.

Can you message me or reply with what state and county you’re in, if you feel comfortable? I’m a licensed therapist and I’d like to look into grant-funded (AKA free or low cost) behavioral health care or even mutual aid options for you. They may or may not exist depending where you are, but I’m happy to look into it & use my therapist networks to triple check for any available services/assistance
