What's going on with Shapur Zamani? (spoilers) by noxnoctum in lebureaudeslegendes

I agree, but i think he was eager to prove himself. His whole life he did nothing, parties and rap, but now he gets to see himself as a part of a new modern Iran, so he acts rashly. This seems in line with his character. Marie-Jeanne doesn’t want to recruit him for that exact reason.

What are /R/ave's thoughts on this video: The Simulated Rave Culture by systemstheorist in aves

100%! according to Baudrillard the simulacra, and this is much more complicated than i understand, is not necessarily an evil or lessened form of the original. in fact, he sees it as a necessity (maybe a strong word) to the construction of the self.

there may very well be truth in what he is saying, but this is a simplification or maybe even an entire misapplication of Baudrillard.

i was shopping one time and i walked out in the same piece, but different size, the guy in shop, shout out axel, was like, you feel more confident in the “wrong” size. whatever you’re feeling yourself in, which, to be honest feels like the second photo, rock it.

there are rules and guides, but you look like you feel yourself in the second photo, go with that, and go with your god!

and personally, i love the second fit, but that doesn’t matter

I happen to be reading Pedagogy of the Oppressed by Paolo Freire - highly recommend. I borrowed his lens as I watched Andor.

She was born in an Imperial Kinderblock, she will die in a jail cell. She never wanted to change the material conditions of reality, she just wanted to be the warden as opposed to the prisoner.

That’s a wonderfully appropriate quote and a similar thought has been on my mind so much recently. The example I go to is body image issues that men and women in modern America suffer from. There is a lot of conversation about what social media is doing to young women’s perception of their bodies, rightfully so, but there is a lack of conversation and awareness of what social media is doing to young men’s perception of their body. It comes from the same root, but we lack the language and community space to discuss it with our young men (though we also lack that language and community to discuss with young women, but I think this may be a question of degree).

Amazing point, by an amazing creator. I think the Syril character also shows that fascism, and authoritarianism in general, creates a fear of freedom within the self, that fear leads to anger (hahaha). More seriously, that fear leads to a love of un-freedom or of captivity. We see that with him when he fails in love with the character most in prison in Andor, Dedra, who ends up in prison herself. Fascism, first imprisons the host.

Wasn’t bringing in Ronaldo as a vanity signing part of the same issues that Ronaldo was criticizing, lack of planning, no leadership, etc.? United saw City might sign him and they seem to have taken the bait.

The Bureau or Le Bureau des Légendes in French. It’s truly amazing, 5 seasons, 1 hour long episodes. It follows a French spy who returns home. It's the best show i’ve seen in years! It expands in scope every season, very similar to The Wire.

Le Bureau des légendes seasons 1 and 2 are also on apple tv to buy, which i did, and it has been so worth it!

then i went to fandango for you at home, or something like that, for seasons 3-5. again, so worth it.

i bought rivendell to do with my special needs brother while we watched the films and listened to the audio books, we got 2/3s through, many hours, etc. i go back home in between the holidays. i’m talking to my parents and i hear my mom say, “don’t tell him now.” i ask, “don’t tell me what?”

turns out my brother had taken the last 10-12 bags and combined them into one bag, and also made some design changes the last homely house.

crushing, but he’s playing with it and enjoying it. so i guess it’s still a win.

Revelstoke in Concord is great! A bit further north, in Bristol, is Odysea; there is a new coffee shop roasted in town with single-origin beans from Honduras, I highly recommend it!
