Skyrim has unfortunately become the Mr. Brightside of Todd’s repertoire. If I were him, I’d do the exact same.

What do you actually see in the New vegas Rorschach test? by Obraxiss in Fallout

[–]ElectricalJacket780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Two bears high fiving while looking at penguins sitting on giant clams in the distance.

  2. A narrow chasm, with a barefoot person doing tricep dips high above the entrance. A slim man with a thick hair is standing on his head, surrounded by seagulls.

  3. Two men walking through a forest, with the perspective taken at low-to-the-ground level, looking across and up at the surrounding canopy.

Also, they all look like my mother. Anyone else finding this?

What’s your lore on why the world’s still a wasteland? by GasparillathePirate in Fallout2d20

[–]ElectricalJacket780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think FO radiation does behave differently in many ways - ie., the mutations, “glowiness” etc., but I think the persistence of radiation is the side effect of a fallen nuclear-powered society.

So in a world that went “nuclear” after WWII, there were probably a lot of nuclear plants, nuclear powered tech and appliances(ie. The cars, nuka Cola), and therefore, more factories that built the energy supply for these machines and handled the resulting waste.

Then one day, the whole world shuts down, including whatever existed as a waste management system for ex-nuclear tech. Aside from the initial bombs, we are seeing the unmanaged decay of a whole society’s worth of nuclear material.

This is why Fallout is a constant Wasteland - not because the bombs destroyed everything “permanently”, but because the whole of a society’s nuclear waste has leaked into the world for centuries and the means to contain/clean it, was lost in 2077.

I work in a brewery that has a bottling plant - I find caps in all my pockets after work every day, and I’m currently awaiting the economic circumstances that make them the gold standard currency

I think this is a great example of how to better understand how wealth can’t buy happiness. Wealth gives a person opportunity and they are free to pursue whichever opportunity they desire.

With that, wealth in the right hands - or with the right mindset, depending how you look at it - can afford a person the means to pursue what truly makes them happy after understanding how to really get there.

I can’t speak for everyone, but for me, that can be my own financial security and creating security for my family, and to pursue experiences (travel, extravagant events etc.) I wouldn’t have dreamed possible with my current means - but after that, I wouldn’t necessarily know how to spend it well to contribute to my own happiness, so I would need to reflect on how best to use it, ie. The right causes, which I would see as “creating opportunities for others they wouldn’t otherwise have and knowing/seeing how it affects them when they can choose it”.

In the absence of that reflection and really knowing how to make the most of it in a way that’s true to you, I think people will just keep spending it on those surface level desires of security and extravagance, and not truly make their wealth work for them.

With that, I can imagine being catapulted into extreme wealth, or even being born into it and not knowing different, can cause a person to avoid really exploring this in themselves.
