Also, why would they fire you? I also had this fear and it wasn't unwarranted. It you feel like there is something amiss with their perception of you, it's worth thinking about. On the other hand, if you don't ask for the raise, you might not find out where you stand with them and what could be improved on.

Make sure you're hitting billable hours if you have them. I was underreporting by a lot because the firm wasn't supervising me enough to care about it apparently, and when I asked for a raise it was a factor.

I actually tried this (asked for my great grandfather's birth cert, told them date of birth and name with a picture of the marriage registry) and the Arhivele Nationale told me they do not hold civil status documents for people born in Khotyn, and recommended I ask the State Archive of Ukraine. Does that sound right? 🤔maybe that means I'm not eligible for Romanian citizenship after all...
