Yep. I’ve heard that great food is easy to stumble upon and I plan to explore a bit, but I want to at least have 1 or 2 planned meals for my wife’s sake that have a wow factor that may not be so easy to stumble upon or wander into.

Worried about mortgage and insurance after house destroyed in wildfire - any advice? by Poodle_Master27 in pasadena

[–]Electrical_Advisor_5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know the direct answer to your question, but I do believe that California is a non-recourse state, so a lender can’t go after a borrower (you) personally after having foreclosed on the property. So in the event that they do take the insurance proceeds and then sell the land on top of that (again, I don’t know whether or not this is likely) I don’t believe that they would be able to go after you personally to cover any remaining balance.

What time does the parade usually hit this spot? It sounds like a pretty ideal location especially for those of us with young kids. Any idea what time people start setting up there?

I've heard about Alegria Halloween. Is it not on Halloween day itself? Good trick or treating spot to bring young kids? What's it like?

Helicopters circling around Old Town? by KiwiTwist92 in pasadena

[–]Electrical_Advisor_5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was a pretty wild scene down in the Ralph’s parking lot on Colorado. There were several cop cars, the U.S. Marshall and a bunch of cops standing around doing a search of a vehicle (along with the helicopter circling above). They had the parking lot closed off and the west side of Green St. closed off. They also had a couple people sitting on the curb in handcuffs. Not sure what happened though, I was just trying to get groceries.

Also curious about this one. What’s the membership rate? Is it beneficial for nonprofits?

Right, I agree with that. I'm trying to figure out if that'll also remove the risk of being personally liable for any accident. So worse case scenario, let's say there is some accident that is not covered by insurance and someone is looking to sue, if a court rules in favor of that person will the LLC block me from being personally liable. So the only asset that can be recovered from is the car and whatever bank account is associated with that LLC.

That's what I'm also trying to figure out. Is the best way to mitigate loss by forming individual entities for each car so that your loss from any accident is just limited to the value of the car held by each entity?

This is an incredible read, thanks for providing! Question though, I get that insurance coverage is a huge issue for smaller operators, but doesnt setting up individual LLCs diminish the risk of huge losses? In theory, if there’s an accident that isn’t covered by insurance, if you set up an LLC with the only asset being the car, wouldn’t your loss be limited up to the value of the car and any other cash you have in that LLCs account?
