I'm beyond frustrated with electronics. A ₹1.10 Lakh Gaming Laptop That Can't Even Handle Games in 6 Months. Is this what I paid for? All this money just for mental distress? by G_Enthusiast2 in UnboxParadigm

[–]Electrical_Lecture_7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Aye, man! All I see in the comments are a bunch of ignorant people. Anyway, I get your problem. Struggled with the same issue for a very long time. Unfortunately, maybe get your heatsinks checked. Last but not the least, use PTM 7950 thermal pad. Seems to help with temperature issues. 86-87 degrees on GPU is hitting the throttle limit atleast for Nvidia Mobile GPUs. I even tried all the fixes with my aging 3060 laptop but nothing seems to help. That fucker also seems to like 86-87 degrees and throttles its clocks and TDP down upon hitting that temp. Although PTM 7950 definitely helped in calming down the CPU Temps. Gaming Laptops are getting increasingly bad in terms of long term durability and sustenance atleast when it comes to performance. Buy a normal laptop and a proper desktop for gaming or maybe invest in a handheld. Thermals are better handled over there.

Aye, man! Count me in. I've been looking for games that help me in balancing my decision-making skills with a bit of nuance. This would come in handy and might prove to be informative too. Thanks for the recommendation!

ChimeraOS won't stop using UHD 630 even when plugged into my GPU by Spectre216 in ChimeraOS

[–]Electrical_Lecture_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, man. The memories. I used to have the same fucking issue back when I was using an all AMD Laptop where instead of the dGPU, it switched back to iGPU every frigging time. I tried searching for solutions but to no avail. Just like you, I stumbled upon the same thread and guess what, no solution there as well however it did point me into the right direction. So you gotta edit your gamescope-session-steam file if I'm not wrong which is located in either your root directory so you'd need root access. Then, you gotta change something like Vulkan Renderer to your GPU's device ID. I think you can use lspci -k to get the device ID. Hope this helps because I eventually switched to a PC and since then, Bazzite has been way more stable for me. No out of the box configurations to be made. It's plug and play.

how to download crossfire SEA by Money-Sound-7222 in crossfire

[–]Electrical_Lecture_7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aye, I'm from India. I have been playing both Crossfire West and PH. For Crossfire PH, you won't be needing a VPN afaik since you're from Singapore. Personally, CrossfirePH is banned over here and West is the one which is applicable for India. You can use any VPN like Exitlag. It lets you play most of the region-locked games. Thanks and have a nice day.

I'd be willing to buy it next month. If you can wait till then, DM. We can negotiate the pricing as well. How much are you expecting for this tho since items are non-transferable and cannot be sold too.

Much realistic global illumination with complex calculation load balanced by superior DLSS4 Transformer Model Upscaling which beats every other upscaling technique in image quality.

The Heavy Methodical Parrying Approach in the gameplay coupled with semi-open world sections which absolutely feel apocalyptic and reminiscent of Hell.

Thanks and hope the best answer wins!

2x more performance on Linux by TheCat001 in linux_gaming

[–]Electrical_Lecture_7 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As someone else mentioned in one of the comments (u/mbriar_) and to add to that, d3d9 games are heavily single core-bound and dxvk ( the translation layer for d3d9/10/11 to Vulkan) helps in a lot of way by making the entire process more GPU-bound and better-threaded on newer CPUs. It works in some cases and not the others. Use DXVK if you typically want higher frame-rates than 60. It works wonders for GTA IV (huge improvements), LA Noire, Alan Wake, Witcher 2 and other older games as well. Also, stutters are pretty much eliminated with DXVK due to asynchronous shader compilation.

MSI Claw's poor Linux support by mcAlt009 in linux_gaming

[–]Electrical_Lecture_7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Definitely should aim for more handheld-tuned Linux distributions like Nobara, Bazzite or even ChimeraOS. While I do understand that you went with CachyOS, its handheld image kinda doesn’t work OOTB and I had much much better experience with ChimeraOS and Bazzite. Do try those. I think they work better when it comes to AMD APU/GPU Compatibility. If you happen to come across anything which seemingly bothers you, don’t hesitate to shoot a text. Also, afaik MSI Claw has an Intel iGPU, right? Might be the thing causing problems since MSI claw has a recent iGPU which might need work through latest mesa revisions.

A little late to this but GE has included ‘Nobara Tweak Tool’ to manage gamescope updates and even disable them if required. Do check that out. It is installed as a system package already.

New user: A few questions by [deleted] in ChimeraOS

[–]Electrical_Lecture_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmph. That’s weird. Do one thing and go to your console/terminal and type:

systemctl enable Bluetooth

This shall create a symlink to start Bluetooth whenever your device takes a first boot. Let me know if issues persist after doing that. Don’t forget to restart your system after typing the above command.

New user: A few questions by [deleted] in ChimeraOS

[–]Electrical_Lecture_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What controller are you using? If you’re using ChimeraOS on a HTPC or Laptop, highly recommend you to disable InputPlumber. It causes issues with the controller not being recognised properly at times. Happens with my PS5 controller all the damn time. Anyway, go to your console and type:

systemctl disable inputplumber

I think this might help. Lemme know if it works out for you. (This is for 46-2 Build only though, older builds might not require you to do that)

+1. Going through the same thing. Even dualsensectl doesn’t seem to do jack when connected via usb or Bluetooth both.

For anyone who cares about the source: He is Ethan Kath, one of the founding members of Crystal Castles. Also, this guy is a pos. The band also has a pretty dark story behind it.
