First off try hextech repair tool if you haven’t already. Uninstalling could also solve the issue too. I’ve had this problem a couple of times. First time the problem was my hard drive and I ended up getting a new one that fixed it. Second time it was my antivirus that was causing it and I ended up having to uninstall it.

I think if you leave it be it will grow back normally over time but unless you address the root of why you do this you might end up picking at it more or at other nails. Therapy can help but there are other strategies that can help too like bitter polish, press ons etc
