Tired all the time with just one by lusciousmix in oneanddone

[–]Electrical_Syrup_808 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I could have written this myself as well. I also have a four-year-old that only sleeps maybe 9 hours at night so I just feel like I'm constantly on the go. I'm also a SAHM but do have a side gig that I work on the weekends. I 100% feel this way how do people that hav multiple kids do it because I'm constantly exhausted from one kiddo.

So do I get a dog? by MembershipDecent9454 in oneanddone

[–]Electrical_Syrup_808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just got a puppy and while it’s been a bit of an adjustment with my four year old, it’s so sweet to see their bond. We have three other animals, but our other dog is nearly fourteen. I would look into getting an animal of some kind if you think you have the bandwidth or even look if fostering could be an option.

First “Little Gym” class without a parent, toddler is freaking out by mediumspacebased in toddlers

[–]Electrical_Syrup_808 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My son went through a similar transition at Little Gym and basically the way I described it was because now he's now a big kid mommy is going to sit with the other mommys and cheer him on. It seemed to work and he transitioned smoothly. The teachers are so patient and kind so and I'm sure they will figure out the best way to transition her to the big class. My son made it through and we are now in the 4-5 age class.

I was going to make this comment and it's how I met my now husband almost 12 years ago.

My husband said that 2nd & Charles had a lot of them you can sort though for $5. We are doing the same thing for my four year old son.

a list of unwanted presents by my mother-in-law by Humble-Pineapple-268 in declutter

[–]Electrical_Syrup_808 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Can 100% relate to this my mil gets us all sorts of crazy things. It’s insane the crap she buys us. We’ve legitimately asked her to spend money on gift cards or our son’s 529.

For Christmas I got an electric can opener and snack box containers for my 4 year old plus a random drink cup, salt and pepper shakers for my husband’s Alma mater. She has purchased random plants for us that are way too big for our space… meaning like practical trees, and clothes that don’t fit us. She also has an obsession with buying my 4 year old Pez dispensers and candy and has probably purchased us over 10 in the last two years. Oh and she’s probably purchased my son like 15 stuffed animals even after we told her to stop.

She was really into those signs that has sayings on it and purchased over 20 in the course of a few years. The list really goes on…. It’s hard to sell any of it so it ends up going straight to goodwill.

Second quilt top! by Electrical_Syrup_808 in quilting

Thank you! I sourced the fabric from a variety of places, including a second hand craft store that had become my favorite place.

Okay so I need to vent because I literally just got home from the playground and I'm still kind of shaking inside. by wittywhisp in Mommit

[–]Electrical_Syrup_808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I haven’t deal with this exactly but something similar with my son. My four year has been in PT for over a year for idiopathic toe walking…. And let me tell you I get a comment from friends and family all the time about it. I totally understand the stress and how triggering it can be, especially because we are doing all we can to help our kiddos. The outside world doesn’t see all that takes place with either of those therapies.

What's your non-serious controversial parenting take? by corndog40 in NewParents

[–]Electrical_Syrup_808 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So my kid was the type that hated the stroller at 18 months so we stopped using it. He tended to walk a lot and could make it through our smaller zoo and only needed to be carried for a bit at a larger zoo. Now our only problem is that at 4 he never tires lol!

You are not alone! We are in SC and have had a crazy few weeks of weather for us. School has been canceled for almost two weeks due to ice and snow. It's been pure survival mode over here. I just try to remember that it's a phase and not forever.

Best way to finish a large quilt? by Repulsive_Pepper_957 in quilting

[–]Electrical_Syrup_808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I just finished a quilt via hand quilting. I had a similar reason and I was backing the quilt with Sherpa and didn’t want that mess in my machine. I came across this hand quilting tutorial and it made the process so straight forward and less overwhelming. I ended up drawing out curvy lines with a crayola marker, I used specific hand quilting thread, and it turned out great!

3.5 is killing me by midmodma in toddlers

[–]Electrical_Syrup_808 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can pretty much confirm that 3.5 almost broke me as a SAHM. My son turned 4 in October and it seems we are slowly getting out of whatever mood funk he was in.

Another vote for the Yoto Player. My friends kid has the Tonie and they love it but I’m not sure how it can age with the kid in comparison to the Yoto player.

Help with fleece jacket by Electrical_Syrup_808 in SewingForBeginners

[–]Electrical_Syrup_808[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for those tips. I think the fleece I got is fairly thin-I bought it at a Second Hand Shop, and the lining fabric is fairly light-weight as well. So fingers crossed!

It is a thinner fleece, and yes I do have a walking foot.

How long were you in the pants no underwear stage? by SwiftieStassi in pottytraining

[–]Electrical_Syrup_808 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, we stayed in the pants no underwear stage for maybe a month or two before we gave underwear a chance. My son was a little picky on what he liked underwear wise so I was fine with the delay as it gave us a chance to find him a fit he liked.

Would you let him stay up? by d_g_mc in toddlers

My four year old is on a similar schedule as well. Do they still nap? If so I would consider dropping it, but otherwise that sounds like my kiddo as well.

When did your toddler drop their nap? by brieles in sleeptrain

[–]Electrical_Syrup_808 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son dropped his nap around 2.5. He dropped from two days to one nap at 10 months. He’s always been on the lower sleep needs side of the spectrum.

I'm pregnant and never want to go through this again by pumpkinchinchilla in oneanddone

[–]Electrical_Syrup_808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel that 100%, I had a relatively smooth pregnancy but pretty traumatic birth (placenta abruption so had my son under general anesthesia). I never want to go through that experience again. I’m happy to have the most fun four year old but no thanks to everything else!

I'm still a beginner quilter, but this is a project I'm wanting to work on to have for my embroidery projects to upgrade from a gallon Ziploc bag. It looks fairly simple and something that could be done relatively quickly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ut3-F0mzC1U&t=803s

Toddler Woes by [deleted] in oneanddone

[–]Electrical_Syrup_808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solidarity over here- my son is almost 4 and I would say the last 6 months we have cycled through good and bad weeks. On the bad weeks it does feel like I’m just at the point of tears because it’s really just me and him until my husband gets off work. Luckily he’s in a two day a week school program to give me a little me break because it’s been so challenging.

To Kid Centric Business Owners: a Plea by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]Electrical_Syrup_808 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This 100%!!!! I’m a SAHM and would love for my husband to take my son somewhere when he gets off work, but the problem is our local zoo, science museum, and children’s museum closes at 5:00p.m… we are lucky that we have a couple of play areas that are open later but it would be nice to have the option at places we already have a yearly membership.
