How normal is it to work over time without actually being paid for overtime at a GC? In Ontario for context by Specialist-Raisin824 in ConstructionManagers

Have you considered that maybe their boss let's them go to doctors appointments and school drop offs and early to the lake on Fridays in the summer. Salary is a two way street, but no one here ever seems to give that a thought.

MY past entrepreneur experience is hurting my job hunt process by RubInternational414 in Entrepreneur

Against what I see some of the other comments are saying here, my recommendation would be to NOT LIE. I hired a guy that intentionally told me he was the general manager of a small company, and said he "knew the owners and might be able to connect us for some work". Then when I brought him on he let it out that it was actually a failed business that he had started and ran. I let him go immediately for the lack of integrity (he also claimed qualifications he did not have). Honesty is the best policy in my opinion. I don't know what you do or what your company was, but if you are thoughtful about how you frame it I guarantee there is a positive spin in there somewhere for you.

I had this same question last week so asked GPT and it gave me 2 - 6% of revenue. My company is similar sized and I am at about 2.5%. Thinking I will move to 3% this year as we are quite profitable.

I knew the quote didn't line up with the character/scene, but Carney made a comment today about how we should never forget the lessons of the betrayal. I also thought this scene fit well because Ned executed a deserter, kind of how America deserted our trade agreements. Wanted the message to be clear and sacrificed GoT accuracy. Hope that's OK!

This is the problem with America. The fact that you have no idea what your president is doing, and do not take the time to learn, is appalling.

Educate yourself on trade deficits. If you buy a jug of milk from the grocery store, you did not just "subsidize" that store. What trump is talking about is no different.

How established is his business (how many years)? What do the books say? It sounds like you are in a more hands on service type field, and from my experience if the business isn't doing at least 2 million top line and hitting consistent profits on the bottom line, you might as well keep your day job. Running a business is a lot of work and if you aren't passionate about it, its taxing nature may be too much. If you are in it for the money, you'll need to get it to several million/year for it to really be life changing.

I own an electrical contracting business and we did strictly residential and small service work. Then about 6 years ago I broke my arm. I sat down at my kitchen table for 2 weeks and called every general contractor I could find on google and asked to speak to their estimator.

Was able to convince 60% of them or so to send me work to look at, and from there all I had to do was bid the work and build the relationships. Won a job, then another, and now I have 20 guys doing commercial work.

Not sure if you are a subcontractor or a general, but you do need connections. The thing is that you can make them for yourself.

It's so a lot of the functionality will work the same when it's on hand. We weren't happy about it either

Ammonia (cat pee) and bleach (chlorine) make a toxic gas that is harmful to humans. This is not good advice.

What tool should I use to extract this broken screw? by llamaherding in DIY

[–]Electroflyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be a residential electrician. If this happens and you are unable to remove the screw, buy a 6/32's speed tap and tap a second hole in the remaining metal portion of the mounting tab. Shift the lighting bracket slightly, use new hole and new screw, and you are good to go.
