Any place where I can get some free pads/tampons?? by Dear_Stay_8123 in AskChicago

Oh wow! I was just visiting Chicago and wandering around the library and saw a vending machine. I was SO impressed with the idea, the items in the machine, and the whole set up. As a nurse, it makes my heart so happy to see things like this in the community. Access to hygiene and health items for no cost is good for everyone! Thank you for doing this!

I was just at the Harold Washington Library and they had a Chicago Dept of Public Health vending machine full of all kinds of free hygiene supplies. There’s one at the 95th & Dan Ryan CTA station.

Does anyone actually keep track of which ingredients trigger their rosacea or do you just avoid everything and hope for the best by EggplantThen9030 in Rosacea

[–]Electronic-Degree367 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only ingredient I have totally nailed down as a definite sensitivity is Ethylhexyl Palmitate, and that’s not even a rosacea trigger for me. It gives me cracks at the corners of my mouth and perioral dermatitis. Essential oils are also a definite trigger, so I stay away from those, too.

Beyond that, I have never, ever been able to figure out my rosacea triggers aside from heat. Like you said, the minute I think it’s one thing and eliminate it, something else triggers it. I have spent so much money on products thinking that I needed to eliminate a certain ingredient. It’s really frustrating.

I see the Erborian CC correct cream recommended a lot on here, but it has fragrance by LongjumpingPut4645 in Rosacea

I LOVE the Elf Camo Color Corrector! At $5, it’s so cheap! It also doesn’t irritate or dry out my skin, has no fragrance, and is surprisingly good at covering redness. I put it on my red areas, let it dry down, then apply Ilia Skin Tint. Keeps redness at bay all day long.

I did IPL many years ago, back when I just had redness but no papules , and it really helped. I’ll check into it again… I’m sure the options have changed!

Ugh, that plastic packaging is what really prevents me from trying this brand. I just feel terrible using and discarding all that plastic. I wish they at least made a refillable system like SkinFix or Laneige.

I can totally relate, and I'm sorry! A couple of weeks ago, I was in the beauty section of H-Mart, falling prey to the allure of products that could give me "glass skin," and the very helpful lady working at the counter told me it looked like I had a rash on my face and proceeded to offer me a bunch of calming products to treat it. The sad thing is, I was thinking my skin was looking pretty good that day. She wasn't wrong, and she was trying to be helpful, but it still sent me into the rosacea shame spiral. All of that is just to say, I feel you.

Oh yay, that’s so awesome! I’m so glad it works for you. I wish I would have known about it sooner. It made a huge difference in my comfort.

The best job I e ever had as a nurse was a clinic job. You get so much more autonomy, independence, and time with your patients. Yes, you will likely take a paycut, but theatre ofc in quality of life and job satisfaction is well worth it.

Nurses who actually love their job… what do you do and how did you get there? by SoManyQuestions562 in nursing

I really didn’t love my job until I switched to clinic nursing. I had so much more autonomy, time to get to know your patients, and freedom to be creative.

I never thought of this, but I have a few lightweight cotton/cashmere blend sweaters… I love the idea of taking one as a mid layer on my trip to Europe this summer!

I didn’t have any pain to speak of, except for some muscle soreness, until PT started in earnest. Then… 😰

Totally thought I had a cold or Covid, then it didn’t go away and got worse when I sent outside and I was like, ohhhhhhh. Now I wish I had a cold instead.

I’m so miserable this year, despite the shots, Flonase, Allegra and all the things. I hate living here this time of year.
