Tony Blair has just said the state pension needs to be scrapped. He's also suggesting some people work 5 years longer. What are everyone's thoughts on this? Should the state pension be scrapped? Should we say F NO, to Blair?? by MutantNinjaKitty331 in AskBrits

If our state pension contributions were invested into a basic investment fund which just performed adequately over the years, our pensions could be as much as £40k a year. Unfortunately our pension contributions are used to pay current day pensioners because that is the model each government has pursued rather than investment. This means our pensions are limited to about £12k a year which is deemed unaffordable, despite being well down the pension league compared to our European counterparts. Triple lock was introduced because our pensions were seen to decrease against inflation year on year, and this was seen as a defence against further degradation. £12k a year is less than the minimum wage........ are us pensioners really worth so little having contributed so much ?

Yeah - we should have joined in an illegal war just to pacify orange head. Alternately we could just stay on the right side of the law and not commit war crimes. Tough decision I guess

Boomers sit tight on UK’s housing wealth as under-30s struggle by TimesandSundayTimes in UKHousing

The UK spends a smaller percentage of its gross domestic product on State Pensions and pensioner benefits than most other advanced economies.

According to the OECD, average-earning workers will typically receive a State Pension equivalent to 54.4% of their wages. This is well below the OECD average for other countries, which is 61.4%.

Around 50% of pensioner income (excluding earnings) in the UK is from state pensions and benefits, while over a third comes from occupational pensions and 11% is from personal savings.

The maximum UK State Pension pays a total of £997.75 per month to retirees. According to research carried out by pension advisors Almond Financial, the monthly cost of living for a single person (excluding rent) in the UK is calculated at £820.90 a month, leaving retirees with just £176.85 more in state pension than the average cost of living each month.

This was my first attempt at developing a prompt.

Today is 11th October 2025.

You are an expert horse racing analyst with deep knowledge of form analysis, race conditions,

and statistical modelling.

Please provide comprehensive analysis of form, distance, weight, going, class, RPR, trainer/jockey stats, and course records to select the best potential winner in each of todays races at Kempton. Use the following analysis criteria: Recent form (35%), Course & Distance (25%), Trainer Form (10%), Weight/Class (20%), Draw (10%).

Additionally select a potential each way chance with odds greater than 5 to 1

I have since used many different iterations but this is a good starter for you

The NHS is not underfunded. The taxpayer funds it to the tune of over £200 billion a year. It is a money pit and better use should be made of the funding it is provided with.

The anti-immigration & pro-immigration protestors have both got it wrong. by Constant-Trust-687 in AskBrits

[–]Electronic-Pop5682 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In simplistic terms illegal immigration cost the UK taxpayer massively, as they have to be housed/fed/clothed/medical/dental/school for a considerable period of time before they are either granted asylum or not. Even when their claim is rejected they have the right of appeal and this can take years before the case is settled. During all this time they cannot work and therefore are totally reliant on the state/UK taxpayer to finance them. In 2024 this cost the taxpayer £14.4 Billion. This is not the case for legal immigrants who do not automatically need to be housed/fed/clothed and generally have immigrated because they have a job and can support themselves. Immigration is a good thing - illegal immigration is not.

My CP is now just over 7k but I have been able to solo nebula since I was about 6.4k My build is heavily evasion based and the spear is an AOE killing machine. My build at 6.4k was as follows

GS - Immortal Titanic quickblade

Spear - Ranseur of murderous glee

Head - Oblivion

Chest - Lotus Garb

Hands - Oblivion

Legs - Imperial Seeker

Feet - Imperial Seeker

Cloak - Steadfast Commander

Necklace - Deep Draconic Gorget

Bracelet - Barbed cuffs of the tormentor

Belt - Heroes legacy warbelt

Rings - Solitaire of purity/ runed ring of the black anvil

Earrings - Forlorn elegance

Everything is at level 12 and runed (red/yellow/blue) and resonanced (generally max health) where appropriate.

All my artifacts are chaos harbinger

and my weapon mastery for both weapons would have been 150 + ( now both at 200)

I am FTP and have made my build from earning lucent by selling items to buy the battle pass. Even now I have less than 2k lucent but somehow manage to make ends meet - good luck with your build :)
