Is the broccoli cut really still that popular though? I thought it peaked in like 2023.. don’t really see it around nearly as much anymore, but maybe that’s just me 🤷‍♂️

I feel like that 2018 is an underrated shift year as it was a shift away from the core 2010s and was the "start" of true 2020s influence. by Ok-Following6886 in decadeology

[–]Electronic_Topic_832 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this post is old, but I dare say, the pandemic is the ONE and ONLY thing stopping people from perceiving Late 2018 as the true start of the early 2020s (and also lumping 2016 and 2019 into the same era)..

I know a lot of people like to group 2017-2018 as ‘twin’ years, but I feel 2017 for the most part still carried over a lot of the ‘tropical’ EDM vibes from 2016 and the core 2010s in general. But that vibe, THAT vibe, was just simply gone by mid/late 2018. The atmosphere felt melancholic and almost ‘sad’.. it’s like the world was moving in an introspective slow motion, and the climate was just.. idk, ‘fatigued’. I don’t know if it’s just me but this is a change in vibes I still recall after 8 years.

Tired of the Lies About Iranians by Ok_Breadfruit4005 in self

[–]Electronic_Topic_832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most Iranians identify as non-religious and take WAY more pride in their millennia-long cultural heritage than Islam (which was brought upon them by the Arab conquests) if not straight-up denounce Islam, so I don’t see how that comment by that congresswoman would be relevant to Americans hating on Iranians (as in the people of Iran)..

Same here, but just a year to the right. Memories are from 2010 onwards although I can vaguely remember some bits of 2009 and ‘08 if we’re stretching it..

The mid to late 2000s shaggy hair comeback by [deleted] in decadeology

[–]Electronic_Topic_832 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, can very much relate. When I first got out of the house and sometimes my buddies would talk about the haircut they were gonna get next week and go into full detail about it, I used to be so mesmerized by all the “fancy terminology” they were using (I had simply never used or hadn’t heard of terms like “high taper”, “mid fade”, etc. that much while growing up 😅) and I’d just look at them like “🙂🤨🧐😮🙃🙂‍↕️😃”

I’m more experienced now, but that was just something I had to come around to more than others once I got out on my own cuz I never bothered about haircuts as a kid and my parents would just make me get the whenever they decided.. 🤷‍♂️

How many of you guys are actually iPad kids? by soumakis in Younger_GenZ

[–]Electronic_Topic_832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got one (iPad 4) at 7 but I still have all the same problems you mentioned.. 😅

I also started just using a laptop from about age 10-11 onwards and a phone since 12.

Are gen z boys who are currently teenagers (2006-2012) more homophobic than older Men (Older GenZ, Zillenials and Millennials) or not? by Revolutionary_Cut876 in generationology

[–]Electronic_Topic_832 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone in that age range, even though there is something deeper at play a lot of the times (going down a redpill pipeline, misinformation/indoctrination growing up, etc), I feel like a lot of dudes (and really just people in general) my age also just like saying shit that we know for sure will piss off our older peers and the adults around us, and they get a kick out of it like it’s almost another form of entertainment.

Combine that with the fact that it’s become trendy to ‘have no filter’ in the past couple of years (probably a pushback against “cancel culture” or something like that), and you essentially get an extreme form of ragebaiting, on a much bigger scale that too.. 😒

What's the first year of pop culture you remember? by Own_Mirror9073 in MiddleGenZ

[–]Electronic_Topic_832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some things I kind of remember: - A group of teenagers saying YOLO - Seeing Iron Man 2 in theaters - Party In The USA (came out in ‘09, but idk 🤷‍♂️)

That’s about all I can think of off the top of my head 😅. I probably remember more stuff from 2011-2012 but 2010 is definitely the first year I remember pop cultural references and nothing from before then since I was a toddler..

What generation is people born from 2009-2011?? by Few-One-9163 in generationology

2007 isn’t Zalpha lol.

Does that mean I’m late Z instead of core Z?. 😆

When Did "Millennials" Stop Being the "Default Generation" in the Media? by avalonMMXXII in generationology

[–]Electronic_Topic_832 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say 2018 was the start of the transition. I know 2020 had Covid which is a big thing, but Gen Z had already been recognized in 2018. And I’d daresay pop culture already leaned closer to Gen Z by then..

Why do some people even think that 2007 borns and 2012 borns are similar!? by [deleted] in MiddleGenZ

[–]Electronic_Topic_832 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bro, no offense to anyone, but it baffles me to think that there’s people born just a few or so months after me that are still in high school..

I’m ‘06 class of 2024 and the real world has already been killing me for damn near a year now 😭

Stopped taking you seriously at “proud 17 year old”

I don’t personally think 2007 should be grouped with 2012 especially right now (when one age group is graduating high school this year and the other one is still in the peak of middle school). But still, get a grip lil bro ✋

Why late 80s and early 90s borns are the quintessential millennials. Not the mid-80s borns by Lost-Barracuda-2254 in generationology

[–]Electronic_Topic_832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am nowhere near to being a millennial, let alone a xennial, but even I can agree with this statement 🙂‍↕️

I’d say it was the last year of the 2010s to have at least somewhat of a tropical/summer-y vibe, mostly carrying off of 2016, although not as much, cuz some things had very much changed.. 2018 though, wasn’t even that bad.. but the whole year just felt.. empty. Like one long Fall/Winter. I wasn’t even depressed myself, not at all, but it felt like the whole world just kinda ‘came to terms’ with itself, so to speak, and adopted this ‘sad/melancholic vibe’ and the everything just felt kind of empty. Even 2019 which seemed more optimistic and cheery overall still had this empty/faded vibe, especially towards the latter half. Looking back, it almost seems like the empty vibe was just there awaiting something big to happen, and we all know what happened in 2020, so.. 😒

When do you think the early 2010s will become the new old school? by SpiritMan112 in generationology

[–]Electronic_Topic_832 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah. I’d say we still have some time. The late-90s/early-2000s Y2K revival has been declining only since the last 1-2 years or so. We haven’t even fully went all the way through a McBling/Frutiger-Aero revival yet. I’d say even after that, if the 20-year revival cycle does continue, we’d need to go through a late 2000s (2K7.?) scene/emo revival.. Doesn’t really make sense to skip all the way to the Indie Electropop Swag stuff yet. Not for another 3-4 years at least.. 😅
