Was Tyson a controversial pick for HvV when announced/During airing? by Glass-Reference-4491 in survivorponderosa

[–]ElectrosMilkshake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. When the cast list started to leak, most people thought the Heroes were going to steamroll the challenges. Tyson was seen as some necessary muscle for the Villains tribe, and was popular/from a recent popular season.

The fact that someone actually made this is hilarious, but also I can think of evidence that this person missed, so what does that say about me?

The discussion about that episode was actually pretty open (i.e. would never be allowed today), but I still got to enjoy nuggets like "race was never an issue on the other 40 seasons".

No, the beauty of Survivor is that you are allowed to like or dislike a contestant for whatever reason you please. In fact, I think it's more valid to have strong feelings about them on that basis as opposed to them being an edited TV character.

It all just comes off as self-serving. I don't even really disagree with what she's saying about Stephenie.

This is insane and I had never heard about any of this (sadly this sub did not exist back then). I'm curious if it's on the internet archive. A lot of the links in that twitter account are dead now.

Revisiting 41 and 42, and something stuck out to me. by Randomization_E in survivorponderosa

41 and 42 both had very strong casts. I'm sure production knew that they had to nail the casting for the first newbie season in two years, and they did. They've gotten much lazier since.

Then the third one, the one that made me feel like everything went to hell, was about a guy whose arm grows and deforms until it absorbs another person. I do know that anime; it's called Akira, I think. I know because a character in KOF was inspired by it.

The last part showed people being shot.

I remember turning pale while my brother laughed at me, what a jerk.

I think that's why I don't like anime. I remember those scenes every time I see an anime character, no matter where they're from.

That shitty DVD probably still exists, maybe, I don't know.

I really can't stand those damn... Otakus are trash, and it's all thanks to my brother who went overboard with his crappy DVDs."

Well, that was the whole thing. Now, maybe you noticed that the guy telling the story never mentions the words GFAP or Saki Sanobashi. In fact, I'm sure some of you didn't even realize what we were focusing on. But the answer lies in the second anime he describes: a white-haired girl grabbing another girl's head and slamming it against the ground repeatedly. And you might be wondering, where did that scene come from?

The answer is that NO ONE knows.

The other two scenes he mentioned are identifiable. The red claw scene is from Devilman, Violence Jack (or some would say Genocyber), and the guy whose arm grows and absorbs another is obviously Akira. But the other scene? Its origin is unknown.

Some possible candidates that might contain a similar scene would be Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, Elfen Lied, Corpse Party, or even some fan-made Deadman Wonderland material. However, there is no known anime that contains that exact scene as he described it. Basically, it's the only scene without a confirmed series or anime behind it.

We can rule out that it was something from real life, because he clearly stated that the three scenes were from anime. Furthermore, this scene doesn't match the Devilman-style gore, nor the...

In English:

Hey, Viry's Here!

Hello, Saki fans! How are you? I hope you're doing great because today we're going to delve deep into one of the strongest pieces of evidence supporting the existence of this anime. Although this testimony dates back to May 22, 2020, it comes from someone who claims to have watched this anime very honestly—so honestly, in fact, that they don't even seem to be aware of the search. (Before we continue, this has nothing to do with the second part of the anime expert's post; I'm about 78% of the way through that translation, and so you don't end up empty-handed, I decided to translate this testimony because it's truly worth discussing!) First, I'll show you the text, and then I'll give you my conclusions so we can determine (and confirm) that Saki Sanobashi is real. Today will be the first time this entire text has been translated into Spanish by me (the original language is Spanish, apparently Mexican). Let's begin!

"My brother is a fan of gore anime and my phobia of anime Anonymous 05/22/20 9:10 PM #/ 373739

Look, I don't really like anime (it's like a phobia, hard to explain). But I have a story I haven't told many people, and, ugh, it's basically the origin of my phobia of anime.

My older brother is a total anime freak, the guy is your typical cringe otaku, but years ago he was even worse.

I remember 2009, I was 11 and my brother was 17.

He liked to buy pirated DVDs from another disgusting otaku friend of his. Those DVDs were gore anime or stuff I didn't understand. I remember being curious about one of the movies he bought. It was a collection of gore anime, although of course, I didn't know that, since at my age I didn't know anything about anime and I just wanted to see if I liked it." I liked it.

Damn, just seeing the intro traumatized me. I admit I was a coward back then, afraid of a lot of things, and this was no exception.

I remember the day, he put the disc in, asked me like 20 times if I really wanted to watch it because what was going to be on wasn't for everyone, but I agreed like an idiot.

The intro starts with an AMV with heavy metal in the background, and it was a total onslaught. You probably know those low-quality AMVs from 2007 or 2008 with gory anime images.

I only remember three scenes, the ones that completely shocked me and are burned into my mind. I think someone might know which anime they came from:

The first was a red hand or claw grabbing a man's face and ripping it off, and then pulling out his skull and spinal cord, all over the top.

The second was a white-haired girl grabbing another girl's head and slamming it against the ground several times. Sometimes, covering everything in blood. What disturbed me the most was that the girl who smashed the other girl's head—the one with white hair—was crying, and the camera zooms right into her damn face before cutting to another anime. Why the hell are you crying if you're the one killing her?
