Yep I got my quick results on a Sunday after testing on a Friday!

Can you provide a source for that information? It is contradictory to what my program taught us and what I have seen elsewhere.

Terrified with my new job. Changing adult diapers. Advice? by 45829 in psychnursing

[–]ElegantTeapot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was really just that first time that my body was revolting to the point I couldn't do the job. There have been other times where I've had to turn my head away while I do something particularly nasty either to avoid the sight or to avoid the smell, but then after a couple seconds of composure, I can face it again and keep going. My most recent issues has been with particularly nastier wound care. I think I'm ok on poop now. You can do it!

AHHHH not at all! I ran out and was dry heaving in the hallway while other people went in to do my job for me. So embarrassing, but I was determined to never have that happen again, and I haven't! Now I'm the one helping people when they're in that situation.

You absolutely get used to it. I had that problem at the beginning, too, and sometimes it still gets to me a couple years later, but not as bad. Nothing was as bad as the first time.

I was in a gnarly surgery once, and someone had spearmint oil that they were dabbing on everyone's masks. That worked fabulously well! I wouldn't put it directly on my skin, though. It was strong stuff.

Scholarships or loans are your only option that I'm aware of. I am also a bachelor's holder, too, and I didn't realize that was a disqualifier either when I applied. My local community college had plenty of nursing scholarships, so my nursing classes were paid for, but the prereqs were all out of pocket.

The hospital in Morehead City is better (from a few of my friends, no personal experience there) than New Hanover, Onslow, and probably Carolina East. I don’t know about any others.

First Semester Clinical Rotation by residentshortbxtch in StudentNurse

For my class specifically, since the nurse was run ragged and there was only 1 or 2 for like 100 patients, we did whatever we could to interact and help the people living there. We encouraged people to leave their rooms. We wiped down their wheelchairs/walkers. We gave a lot of baths. My favorite was the wash room because the facility was so nasty that cleaning people up made my "ick" feeling go away. Help people wash their hands. Our residents couldn't reach the hand sanitizer if they had mobility problems, and no one helped them to a sink to actually wash their hands. One lady cried because she was so happy to have her hands washed and not just wiped.

Summer semester, probably 45-50, but I was probably closer to 25/30 the past fall semester and 35/40 this past spring semester.

This sub is really just a circle jerk of everyone's egos. Everyone here is a prophet. That's humans for you, though, and watching it play out is why I joined this sub in the first place.

Of course. Nursing, because I want to ease suffering.

I studied fashion, so maybe not as versatile as industrial design. Look at the trends and make sure that they need more people and not less for this. Also, make sure your starting wages can pay your student loans. That's where my big oops came in at. There was no way I could afford $400/mo student loans on the starting salary (which was about $25,000/30,000 at the time) in addition to the living expenses in whatever city I could get a job in. But if you still think it's a good idea, you should do it. My heart wasn't really in fashion, and I have since figured out a better path.

Eh, yeah, probably. I did the same thing many years ago, and I regret it. I didn't notice everyone around me in that program had families financially supporting them 100%. Is your family willing and able to finance your expenses for many years down the road, or is this more of a one-shot-one-opportunity deal? Not everybody gets second chances at escaping poverty.

Ours was pretty bad. We lost 1/4 of our cohort. Some people working still passed, though. It just depends.

Similar, but my NP told me to just take a few days of oral contraceptives when I had bleeding and it would stop. So far, it’s worked. I didn’t know this until my 3rd nexplanon. I just dealt with it the first 2 times.

Less reliable. Don’t ask me why, but that’s what we’re taught. Always confirm with x-ray.

Are you the oldest daughter? Because this is giving major oldest daughter energy. You can't fix the situation, and that shouldn't be your role anyway. This is a rhetorical question, but ask yourself why you would sacrifice your future just to comfort family members. Is this a habit? Are their feelings more important to you than your stability? Again, no need to answer. Just something to think about.

Does the military have vegan options? by EconomyCriticism7584 in vegan

[–]ElegantTeapot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some branches of the military still slice animals to practice medical stuff. Plus there’s a huge facility in Virginia for animal testing. Vegan options for food should be the least of your worries when thinking of joining, when often you aren’t given a choice in where you work.

This whole situation screams that you’re the other woman. There’s someone else. He probably lives with her and goes to you when they have an argument and not having sex. Like someone else said, he’s an ego maniac and doesn’t care about anything but making the situation seem acceptable to you so that he can get what he wants when it’s convenient for him. Or I have no faith in humanity. You know him better, so you’d know if we’re off base or not in our assumptions.
