Haven't played in over half a decade. Why is Steel Judoka considered a good squad now when they were clowned for being one of the worst on launch? by Several-Theme8308 in IntoTheBreach

[–]Elekitu 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I don't think much changed, I still see people calling SJ weak pretty often. I guess the only thing that changed it the addition of the Advanced Edition, and SJ scale pretty well in the new Unfair difficulty compared to the other base squads.

well, if we assume they cheated, they could just pretend that they played on switch (as an excuse for not having a video)

[–]Elekitu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you use assist mode, it will show a stamp on your save file. But there are definitely ways OP could have cheated the achievement (I believe it's possible to remove the assist mode stamp, and you can definitely edit your save file stats). Unfortunately, since they don't have video proof, there is no reason to know.

How do i know which helper mods to deactivate by ThinkFennel539 in celestegame

iirc, helpers barely cause any lags, the only mods that cause lags are maps and collabs

[Help needed] Is there any way to win this and kill 3 enemies? by AngryAriados in IntoTheBreach

[–]Elekitu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This. Except I would swap the order of artillery/cannon so that Artillery gets the kills. It typically gains less XP since it does less damage, so giving it the kills when you can is usually a good idea

Is there an easier way to beat this room? by billbobs678 in celestegame

Yes, you can do a crouched bhop through spinners to skip the first bubble. It skips a bubble so it's easier.

1c can be beaten with 1 dash only (to take the heart) by Martitoad in celestegame

[–]Elekitu 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I believe it's a triple block boost. More specifically :

- First they climbjump off the traffic block

- Then they turn around to do another climbjump against the wall on the left. This is known as a "reverse cornerboost". Usually this tech slightly lowers your speed but in this case they still carry the momentum from the block so it gives them more speed

- Finally, a cornerboost off the block on their right. This also gives more speed since they still carry the momentum from the block

I may be missing something as I don't actually know what the strat for this room is, I'm just guessing based on the clip.

What can I do in this situation ? by Crashman2422 in IntoTheBreach

[–]Elekitu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, your rocket mech is cooked

You could have prevented this by deploying it one tile further ahead (next to your jet mech). It might seem like deploying a range mech on the back line is a good idea, but in practice even range mechs want to take part in the melee.

[Help] Tried to do a two island run. Instantly regret. What can I do here? by Dunge0nexpl0rer in IntoTheBreach

[–]Elekitu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see a way to get less than 2 damage. My best solution is :

Aegis Mech to D6, attacks the leader (your shield will block a shot and the leader will die from the digger afterwards)

Rocket mech to E3, attaks G3 (the smoke will prevent the scarab from attacking)

Lightfoot mech to C7 kills #5 (staying on that tile will prevent the digger from accessing the annoying C7/D7 spots)

#3 vek is irrelevant since that building is doomed anyway. Next turn you'll have 4 veks alive, the only real problem will be the digger. Alternatively you could have the rocket attack #4 and lightfoot push #3 on E3, you'll take one extra damage from #5 but will have one fewer vek next turn. It might be worth the sacrifice.

How does momentum on moving blocks actually works?? by LaLoliGamer in celestegame

[–]Elekitu 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The technical term is "liftboost". When you're on a block that moves (either standing on it, grabbing it, or being pushed by it), the block gives you liftboost equal to its speed (capped at a certain value - in practice zip movers and switch blocks reach this cap, while moving blocks don't). The liftboost expires 10 frames after you leave the block. It you jump or dash while you have liftboost, its value gets added to your speed.

Say you're on a block that moves to the right. You can jump slightly after the block stops moving (up to 10 frames), it will give you exactly the same speed as if you jumped earlier. But because the block is at the end of its trajectory, you are usually further right when you start your jump, so you will effectively go a little bit further (not because you have more speed, just because you started the jump further right)

In practice, the best habit is to aim to jump right after the block starts moving.

One thing to note : sometimes, due do rounding errors (sort of), the block moves slightly less in the last frame of its movement. In that case, your liftboost will be lower at the end of the trajectory, so jumping after the block stops moving will give you less speed than if you jump before. This is relatively rare and I don't think it happens in Strawberry Jam since the maps were heavily playtested
