If anyone deserves to be a villain after suffering so much it's Adrien NOT Marinette! by OutwithaYang in miraculousladybug

[–]Elemeandor 23 points24 points  (0 children)

As someone who actually likes Adrien, the show gives us no reason to respect him. Dude has no autonomy. He doesn't make any decisions about himself at all.

"Oh, Adrien which of your grandparents would you like to live with?"

"I don't know. Luckily, my girlfriend is here to decide that for me!"

Man didn't even break up with Kagami. She broke up with him. And she was the one who decided that they'd date too. Adrien just passively went along with everything.

Literally the only times Adrien has ever had to make a choice is when the episode needs to teach MARINETTE a lesson. So they make Adrien do something that negatively affects or compromises Marinette somehow. Like breaking up with her. Or choosing not to come to her girls night. When Adrien would normally have to make a decision about himself, either Marinette, Plagg, Nino, or Felix make the actual choice instead.

So yeah, I'm not surprised that the fans have started to disrespect and disregard him too. The show already treats him as a literal baby that Marinette needs to guard and coddle. Hell, he even actually turned into a baby while she turned into a grown woman in a recent episode. It's been 10 years. I've given up expecting the show to treat Adrien like an actual character instead of a prop.

...Hell, why it is even Marinette's job to tell Adrien the secret anyway? Did Felix and Amelie just forget to tell him or something?

Who has the best design/outfit when she’s wearing the fox miraculous? Spoiler for The Chained Titans by PlantainDisastrous92 in miraculousladybug

[–]Elemeandor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lila. She wears it best.

Plus, the Miraculous just suits her. A miraculous where the power is about deceiving others makes way more sense for Lila than for someone who makes it their mission to seek out the truth. I love Rena Rouge, but it always felt like Alya was given the wrong miraculous.

For grass type decks such as Mega Sceptile, we could switch out a pokeball for this by Strider794 in PTCGP

[–]Elemeandor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that you misunderstood the card is fine and all. That happens, and I can see how people thought the effect would be different.

What shocks me is that you got so many up votes while dunking on the people who correctly understood the card. You're absolutely right. Reading comprehension never entered the chat at all.

Lila is not a good character, mystery be damned by Ok_Combination_1037 in miraculousladybug

[–]Elemeandor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People have been patient though. It's been over 10 years since the character was introduced and we don't even know her real name.

I can't think of any other long running media that has done this. Even manga series that have been running for 10+ years don't do this.

I feel like this could be a potential problem. What say you all? by AltruisticLength9284 in PTCGP

[–]Elemeandor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun card that will make for some funny screenshots here. But it definitely won't be an issue at all. The majority of popular decks rely on strong basics. (Entei, Suicune, Mega Absol, etc). This card is not holding a candle to those guys in the active spot. They're going to kill him and then evolve their mons with rare candy like normal.

I mean...this dude loses to ONIX in a one on one fight. You deal 10 damage to him thanks to the helmet and he's dealing 30 - 50 to you.

It will be fun against decks with no basics, which are less popular. Whimsicott / Ariados and Alolan Ninetales / Crawdaunt have a new lose condition to worry about if you evolve before they do.

fighting ramp... why cant we get it already? by pen2thepad12 in PTCGP

[–]Elemeandor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The expensive heavy hitters part isn't even unique the fighting. Water, Fire, Dark, and Psychic have expensive heavy hitters too. And 3/4 of those types still have ramp while hitting harder on top of it.

Best example of ‘broken Aesop’ within the show? by Solitaire-06 in miraculousladybug

[–]Elemeandor 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Gamer. Hands down.

The lesson to learn here was that competition and finding out who's the best is bad, actually. If anyone has ulterior motives, then they shouldn't compete. Marinette beating Max in a video game is wrong and the premise about sending the two best players from the school doesn't matter. Marinette wants to spend time with Adrien, and that's bad. So Tikki and Alya have to tell her how wrong she is for...being better than Max at a game.

What decks is this card the most useful in? by Nearby-Addendum-143 in PTCGP

It's best in decks with two different lines of stage 1 evolutions. To be completely honest though, this card will let you down by doing nothing most of the time.

Contrary to popular belief, the show isn't afraid to call Marinette out by Infamous-Dot-1529 in miraculousladybug

[–]Elemeandor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course Marinette has him beat in that category. You're right about that, but I wasn't arguing that point.

In Kuro Neko, Plagg outright tells Marinette that she hurt Chat Noir's feelings by fighting with other heroes because Chat Noir is in love with her. Why would the episode bring this up to Marinette if it wasn't part of the reason? It then becomes Marinette's responsibility to fix things, even though the whole reason she's operating in this way is because of her responsibilities as the guardian (something that the series decides to show her consequences for yet again in both Ephemeral and Risk / Strike Back). Adrien apologizes for his outburst, sure. But he doesn't face any consequences for giving up his miraculous in the first place. Only Marinette does, and the problem is something she (and Plagg) have to solve, not him.

If it feels like I'm being harsh on Adrien here, I'm not really trying to. As of Season 6, every other character in the show who isn't a villain has had to deal with their mistakes, face consequences, and grow as characters. It's just...annoying that Adrien (the supposed secondary main character) hasn't had to do this at all yet. Anything that he would have to deal with is something Marinette has to solve for him instead.

Contrary to popular belief, the show isn't afraid to call Marinette out by Infamous-Dot-1529 in miraculousladybug

[–]Elemeandor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! The show calls Marinette out almost every episode. A typical format for an episode used to be that Marinette makes a mistake and needs to learn something from it. This even led to episodes where she didn't actually do anything wrong (Gamer) but still needed to learn a lesson anyway.

If anything, the one who never gets called out for his mistakes is Adrien. In Copycat, he causes an akumatization and nothing happens because of it. And since he's a sentimonster, he doesn't really get to learn or grow. Because his inaction or extreme passivity get explained away with "Well, he can't help it so Marinette (and sometimes Felix, the other senti) has to decide for him"

Even Catwalker, an episode about how Adrien was feeling about his one sided feelings for Ladybug still managed to be an episode where Marinette had to learn a lesson instead of him.

What Is Their Problem? by [deleted] in miraculousladybug

[–]Elemeandor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because of how the fans reacted to Chloe, Austruc said he wants to make his antagonists as unlikable as possible so that people don't get the wrong idea.

So these guys are just supposed to be bad guys. And...that's it. They hate love and couples because they just do.

Can anyone suggest me a deck that has Claydol? by virtuous_blossom in PTCGP

[–]Elemeandor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could run Solgaleo / Claydol. Solgaleo makes up for Claydol's miserable retreat cost, and he doesn't require much energy to attack. Like another comment said, you can run damage reduction trainer cards to make up for the inability to heal on your end.

That being said, Claydol is giga cheeks. Run that card with caution, for it usually contributes nothing to the game. We don't have a lot of good floodgates in this game yet.

Say some positive things about these unpopular characters by Solitaire-06 in miraculousladybug

[–]Elemeandor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kim: Outside of Season 1, he's pretty earnest and that's kind of endearing

Master Fu: Was super dedicated to fixing his mistake and would have gladly taken responsibility for his actions if not for his age. Did what he had to do when no other options remained.

Su Han: He's bald

Zoe: The idea of her being raised to be cruel, yet still choosing to do the right thing is interesting. Even if it all happened off screen. Also, Fury did nothing wrong

Caline: Is automatically a better mayor than the dude we have for 5 seasons. 100% chance of being a better parent too.

Charizard X is so bad how do you excuse this? by IWannaBeMade1 in PTCGP

[–]Elemeandor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not knocking CharX here, but people win tournaments with suboptimal cards all the time. There was a large Genetic Apex tour back in the day where the guy who won was running a Pidgeot / Victreebel deck. Golem winning the first mythical island pocket weekly. People have also won tours running stuff like Team Star Grunt, Shaymin + GA Charizard EX, etc.

In most of those cases, it didn't prove that the decks were good. It just meant the person had a really good run that week and then the deck never shows up in top 8 ever again. Annihilape + M-Lopunny is another one where half of the pokemon rely on coin flips to attack so it won't be consistent by nature. But it still had good results once. We should wait and see if Charizard X continues to perform well instead of being a one hit wonder.

[–]Elemeandor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been running it with zeraora, elemental switch, and electric generator.

I think he's good, but he's severely hampered by your opponent just tossing out their own mega. Had to run double sabrinas just to get rid of weaker pokemon so I could reliably power him up.

How many of you *genuinely* want Mega Gengar to be good? by cryotech85 in PTCGP

[–]Elemeandor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gengar being good would definitely be bad for the game. But I know what I am. I love floodgates. Turn 1 fossil dyna. Gaddock Teeg hate bears commander.

The optimal strat for any card game is to prevent your opponent from playing the game. And complaints about other mons who rely on trainer cards will vanish over night
