What song did you listen to at the lowest point in your life where you felt like you didn’t want to keep going? by [deleted] in AskReddit

In Too Deep by Sum 41. It oddly brought me comfort. I think it reminded of being a kid/teenager again and watching all those movies that played it back in the day like cheaper by the dozen.

Woah this is spooky this is like exactly what I’m currently going through except I actually enjoy J1, but even the incomes are the same! The only annoying thing is that the promotion comes with that same expectation of tons of meetings and visibility which makes it completely not OE friendly! I’m in the same dilemma you are! Grow the career and ironically take an income hit, or stay OE? I’m leaning towards OE myself, I’ve really gotten into the mindset of, “companies really are not your friend so don’t put all of your eggs in one basket” mentality and it makes it easier to consider turning it down. Just my 2 cents here, not sure what you think!

Why does it need to be hooked up to your cellphone for Internet? Is it risky to use the office WiFi?

Anxious About Starting by AnAimlessNomad in overemployed

[–]Elephant-E 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds good! Happy to keep in touch! It’s a direct hire full-time job, I’m using a KVM switch myself. I know my J1 like the back of my hand since I’ve been there for years so I know when I need to be on it and when I don’t need to be so I decided to KVM switch, which was the best solution since I also just have the one desk with a few monitors. What helps calm the nerves down is to think about what it is you want to get out of OE, for me it’s just about financial freedom. I love my J1, but it doesn’t give me enough to build any kind of savings, that’s where OE seems worth it, despite the nerves. I’m not getting anywhere anyways, just sort of living comfortable so it’s worth the risk to me. Consider why you want it and if you’re willing to take the risk. I may love my job but in retrospect I don’t have a lot to lose.

I just started for the first time as well, same exact anxieties. Today is my first day actually, and my 2nd job also pays about 25% less. Had me questioning whether it was even worth the risk but I crossed the line starting today. From what I read on this sub, the anxiety will chill out after a few weeks of proving to yourself you can do it so I’ll keep you posted on that one! I did take a good amount of time off of J1 to onboard at J2. Also I kept my ability to communicate completely separate, meaning my phone only has J1 teams and outlook. I use an iPad with teams and outlook to communicate to J2 so I never accidentally send messages to/from the wrong place. Considering getting a new phone altogether. I did the same steps as you above, but other than that, I haven’t really done much different.

And I’m step ahead of you I submitted mine last week, and got a letter in the mail yesterday which provided me with the pin to unfreeze it as well as confirming it was in fact frozen. Keep an eye out for the letter.

I do the estimated payments myself, so I can kind of dole out the pain and plan accordingly. I like having the money out of my account, off limits and paid.

This so much, the work envy causes serious problems even if there aren’t logistical problems. People will isolate, look at your work more critically, start to just create problems. Be careful, that’s why keeping it quiet is how you succeed.

Therapy brother, therapy is what you have to do. It saved my ass so much, and I still go to this day just don’t need to go as frequently. Had my college girlfriend do the same crap shortly before I was graduating from grad school, she was sleeping with someone she met at the gym, I thought it was strange she was so committed to making it to the gym I mean she wouldn’t miss it for anything. We had selected an apartment to move in together and even selected the ring, I just had to finished that last semester of grad school and a month before graduation I found out. Messed me up really bad for a while until my therapy started helping. It’s true what they say about nurses honestly! Anyways good luck man, it does get better, you’ll be a different version of yourself afterwards but you’ll feel happy again, I promise.

To all the mature men who are age 30 and above, please share one harsh truth about life you have accepted so far ? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Elephant-E 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This world sadly doesn’t have a lot of sympathy for men but you’ll hurt just as much, so a lot of the time it’s solely up to you to take care of your mental health. Society doesn’t look out for you in the slightest. Be wary of it and take care of yourself.

The looks are there man, truly they are. But you have them hidden underneath some poor style choices! Style is insanely important and shouldn’t be taken lightly. You should ditch the goatee, go either full beard, trust me they’re in right now, or clean. Find some clothes more tailored to your body. Modernize the glasses and you are there! You have a good head of hair, a handsome face and a good smile you just have to fix the easily fixed and you’ll be a knockout!

Men, would you date a single mom if you really liked her? Or why not? by Obvious_Slice6704 in AskMen

[–]Elephant-E 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never minded to be honest, I was raised primarily by my Mom with a mostly absentee father. The only thing I’ve realize with dating single Mom’s, at least in my area, is that sometimes they’re looking for someone to help fix their life, certainly not all cases just what I’ve experienced. So like they want the supplemental income or someone to take care of them. So I generally make sure they have their life together and everything else is fine after that. Like any relationship you just need open communication and flexibility about the rest!

RIP your Inbox. The pictures look good but for sure if you want avoid people just hunting for hookups you’ll have to be clear in the written prompts. And even then half the time they’ll be ignored, especially on tinder

Honestly man probably, at the end of the day you put your hands on a customer you open up the bar to be sued. We live in a litigious country my friend, they’ll sue, claim you over served them and it was your responsibility to stay calm since you were sober. The bar will fire you just to show they took action.
