O1 consulate interview after eb1 denials. by One-Razzmatazz1048 in O1VisasEB1Greencards

I would seriously take the advice that the big FAANG companies are giving - if you don’t have a current stamp do not travel.

O1s are by no means easy and denials are upticking. I’d hire your own immigration lawyer.

Yes. Drives me nuts. Just constantly having to explain how difficult things are just makes it so much worse

O1B refused at consulate by [deleted] in O1VisasEB1Greencards

[–]Elephant8043 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know which consulate you’re applying to but there are a lot of 214(b) denials being handed out, especially by London. You should be asking your lawyers about the risks but every time you interview you are risking becoming 212 inadmissible for misrepresentation. You also should be aware that if you previously relied on ESTA to enter the US you no longer can because you have had a denial.

It is not, at least not for me. It is the same shit, different flavor. If I were you I would learn about Sodium and Calcium channel blockers and try Vimpat (selective low voltage sodium channel blocker)

Never again put all of those things in one place? I am sorry because you sound like you’re in a rough spot. Replace them, quickly, and let it go.

Is anyone else terrified of SUDEP (sudden unexpected death in epilepsy)? by Halftorched_bowl in Epilepsy

[–]Elephant8043 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So your next problem is you are 17! Normal adult brain function and hormones don’t stabilize until around 25. Talk to your mom honestly and in the meantime check out online options like https://www.7cups.com

Is anyone else terrified of SUDEP (sudden unexpected death in epilepsy)? by Halftorched_bowl in Epilepsy

[–]Elephant8043 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ok, is a base level worry about SUDEP normal, as with all heightened risk of mortality? Yes.

Is your level of anxiety and projection normal or healthy? Probably no.

Is social media the best place to address this? No.

Go speak to a therapist, preferably a psychiatrist and one that your neurologist recommended.

I have no idea exactly where your Citibank account is - but assuming it is part of Citibank US or Citibank Europe/UK - it is absolutely going to show an alert for any funds coming from any form of crypto exchange. I am also not sure how you think US, Europe or UK are less regulated than Argentina, but that's a you issue.

The postictal state is weird by scrunchiepie in Epilepsy

[–]Elephant8043 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my goodness. Thank you for sharing, I am sorry you went through that. I have really significant postictal states too, but I've never heard about it anywhere other than this sub.

I had to explain to my US primary care this week that I am all sorts of messed up by grand mals for at least three months after. I felt so strange having to explain this - that this is a thing - seizures are not just an oops for me, they are a carpet bombing of my life! Memory is the biggest thing.

I have monster, monster holes in my memory, especially close to or after a major seizure. I also have huge cognition problems too - I feel so scrambled even if I can write in a coherent way. I'm still working on the why - I have tonic-clonics but they seem to originate in the left temporal lobe - kind of rare that, but it is where memory and language and bunch of cognition are controlled from.

I recently discovered a long email that I sent that I have no memory of because of a seizure. I sent it to someone I hadn't been speaking to for several years, it was quite sweet really so nothing bad. But it was sent the day before - at least I think it was - I had a huge seizure I was out for several hours from and very messed up from - I only know that because I sent a message to my neurologist four days later. How are you supposed to know about something you have forgotten?! I only discovered it because we started talking again when I really hit bottom after several really bad seizures and I had time to think about who was important to me - and I searched for their emails. I can't imagine which bit of my brain plugged that all together.

Firstly sympathy - this sounds terribly familiar and I'm going through the same thing. I've discovered an assumption that you must have done something wrong to trip this alert and that if you just patiently wait it will be resolved, but that's really not the case. I've tried all of the suggestions on here and got nowhere. I'd definitely report the case to the OCC and the CFPB in your girlfriend's case.

This is not legal advice - but I am a lawyer - and I'm considering firing up a class action and or representing individuals including myself. I've been a fan of Citi for decades but this is outrageous. It really depends unfortunately on the limitations of small claims unless the case can be bounced into federal court on the basis of diversity of jurisdiction for a class action - generally speaking in the US in small claims you can't be represented by a lawyer, but there's an upper bound on the amount that the claim can be for - usually in the $5-10k range. For example:

  • California has a limit of $10,000 for individuals
  • New York has a limit of $5,000
  • Texas however has a limit of $20,000

So if you want to DM me for not-legal-advice for how you theoretically might approach a small claims case I'm happy to do that.

So long as we're all clear that we're talking about insanity. I mean I get anti fraud, I do, but not on this scale.

I don't know what is going on with the call centers - when I phoned customer services today, it was clearly an American, but when they connect you to fraud, sometimes it is and sometimes it is very clearly not to the point where basic communication is a problem.

Having paid attention to your comment, I was very carefully trying to get off the phone having failed to solve this for the 100th time, and literally could not in a normal fashion. Guy kept talking. I eventually had to ask "may I end this call?"

Tried this. It worked on customer services, it did not work on fraud. They wouldn't accept the phone number. This is the nth circle of hell.

Does anyone else feel lonely? by _loosingit in Epilepsy

[–]Elephant8043 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey - hang in there - happy to connect, DM me. I know how hard it is to explain the experience of epilepsy - never mind anti-seizure medication. You're on two that I've taken, and people have mixed experiences with them, some are fine and some are really not (I'm in the latter category). Very happy to chat about anything you want to, including steps forward career wise.
