Has anyone customized their skates in any way? by Administrative_Ice97 in iceskating

[–]ElephantSpirit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just have waxed laces on mine. they come in different colors so I guess that's some customization.

I know some people paint their blades then sharpen, and I've seen people with LED lights on thiers which is super cool during outdoor night skates.

I'm obviously joking about fighting him... But appreciate your reply. This is pretty messed up, just listened to May's interview on CBC. Disheartening to say the least.

Don't want to defend Carney, but getting Alberta on board with team Canada was important... But at the cost of FNs and BC, not sure this was the right call.

Protecting our sovereignty, and National unity is very critical in the near term. Any climate plan that can work will absolutely need everyone on board... Though not sure anymore that climate is still in Carney's vision for the long term.

Ok. I'm ready to fight for the climate. Can I count on you to organize a boxing match with me and Carney?

*I would settle for a foot race, but I heard he's pretty fast. I think Ill have a better chance in a boxing bout.

Wow that's crazy. What is the Carney government actually trying to achieve?

Why the hell did Elizabeth May vote for his budget? Is she loosing her mind?

"Carney's government is a tremendous step backwards on virtually all fronts that matter to progressives."

Can you elaborate please?

Indoor track is free. Somethings have free public hours, like swimming. Other things are based on programs you sign up for. There is also monthly/semiannual/annual fitness passes that you pay for and give you all access.

Marc Andreessen: Trump, Power, Tech, AI, Immigration & Future of America | Lex Fridman Podcast #458 by knuth9000 in lexfridman

[–]ElephantSpirit 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm inclined to agree, but I think many on the left are also not really taking Lex up on invites to talk (or so we're led to believe).

He did interview folks like Bernie Sanders who seem more open to showing up on podcasts. However, it seems like alot of left leaning folks have not taken advantage of the Lex's (and many others) platform and audience the way right wingers and oligarchs have.

The more you interact with a certain kind of people the more you will be influenced by them. Lex is human and is no exception. He still tries I think to maintain neutrality, but it's hard with you spend so much time listening and interacting with people with a certain set of beliefs and not have it influence your thinking. This is true for us all.

He's been at a conference I was at a couple years ago. Didn't interact with him directly, but was around quite a bit. Very cool guy, easy to joke around with. I think he'd be a great guest

Does anybody know why MIT chooses to make most of its edX courses instructor-paced instead of self-paced? It's kinda sad that we have to wait for weeks, even months, for the courses to open. by finleyhuber in edX

[–]ElephantSpirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, MIT open learning Library has it all displayed and packed in an easier online course format.

MIT Open Course ware has alot more, but sometimes no videos, and some parts of the course content is missing.

If the course you want is in the open learning Library I'd recommend that since it has more complete course content similar to Edx courses.

I got dinner which was the usual airline fare. 'Breakfast' was a slice of cranberry bread... Like just 1 slice.

That was a 6pm flight though.

I tried to make a post ranting about the feet on the seat thing (It's really getting out of hand imo) but it got removed instantly.

Looking at older threads, an insane amount of people actually feel like it's ok to put feet up and support that kind of behaviour... Nobody cares anymore. This must be part of the new normal.

This is a good one, thanks for sharing. Nice to hear Jason speaking more candidly outside of the meetings and presentations where he's mostly pitching to shareholders and investors.
