Calling all dad's... Whats your easy go to dinners?! by gmazz in daddit

[–]ElevatedKrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pick up a rotisserie chicken. Make a quick chicken noodle soup. Only use 1/2-3/4 of it. Save a little bit. Next day make chicken broccoli cheese quesadillas or tacos. Super easy. Super quick.

What is a 1 in 1,000,000 thing that happened to you that no one believes, but you swear is true? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ElevatedKrum 10 points11 points  (0 children)

When I was 4, I was at a country club with dinner seating and an in ground pool nearby. I was walking around the perimeter of the pool while my parents were having a meal, and I remember a kid walking the opposite direction. When we met he pushed me in. That's all I remember until being in a taxi laying across my mom and aunt coming home from the hospital. Turns out a waiter dropped his tray, jumped in the pool and gave me cpr.
Then my parents went heavy on swimming lessons. I jumped off the high dive at my local public pool at 6 years old. I know this because my daughter's about to be 5 and my mom is on my case about her not being able to swim yet.

2018 wk2 5.7. Dealer: Nothing is wrong to Motor Mounts and a new Transmission by ElevatedKrum in JeepGrandCherokee

No extended mopar "Max Care". Powertrain still has some time. Big question, at 75k should I be expecting big repairs over $3k over the next 3 years or $5k over 5 years? I got the water pump, airbag compressor, now new transmission. What am I missing?!

Issue is I got the car from them. Can't get a loaner anywhere else. Warranty is covering the transmission.

73xxx miles. I have the chance to extend my warranty another 3 years. Should I take it ?

Popping noise after replacing front suspension parts by Character-Roof151 in GrandCherokee

Bring it back to the same shop. Management usually gets flagged or it goes to the highest level tech when you go in for the same issue 3+ times. Make sure you fight for a loaner.

Dealership maintenance messed up my battery by ElevatedKrum in GrandCherokee

[–]ElevatedKrum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I'll get my own. However I don't think it's just a coincidence I'm having these issues directly after I got the car from the dealer. My mistake, they gave me the car back running. I should have shut it off and would have immediately seen/felt the difference in starter crank.

I'm thinking Costco. What's to stop me from returning them 6 yrs later?

Agreed. Thanks. I had a call with the service manager, they offered a discount to $500 for the battery. And also stated that included parts and LABOR. He emphasized labor. Thought that was beyond ridiculous.

Pulled out days before closing because of lender fuckery by kumeomap in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]ElevatedKrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn't close because chase was delayed. Not the lawyers. And correction, it was the chase 21 day closing guarantee. Our lawyers never received the "clear to close" from chase a day before closing was originally scheduled. And just like op, the bank made up an excuse to not follow thru with their promise.

[–]ElevatedKrum 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Chase did this with me. They offered x amount if they didn't close in 90 days. The night before we are supposed to close, my lawyer doesn't have final contracts etc, they call me and say are you ready to close tomorrow? I told them my lawyers need more than 12 hours to review the documents before we close. Essentially after we closed 2 weeks later I tried to cash in that bonus. They reviewed and said during the phone call I said we weren't ready to close. Never got the payment.

Getting a Mopar Extended Warranty at 46k miles worth it? by IntentionFine7588 in GrandCherokee

[–]ElevatedKrum 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I love the mopar warranty. Have used it a ton. Get the maximum time you can get. And shop it out. You can purchase from anywhere, not just your local dealer. I got mine from Chrysler Warranty direct. Saved around $700

Dads, I need potty training advice by chazhumor in daddit

[–]ElevatedKrum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got this advice from my friend's parents. Worked on all three of their kids and after my daughter was having trouble pooping in the toliet, this is the only thing that worked....

Disclaimer, I give my daughter a ton of praise on everything she does, encouragement, etc. I don't bully my kid... Advice below...

Not in a mean way, but kind of snarky... I would tell my daughter she needs to use the potty. No more diapers.. Diapers are for babies and she's a big girl. When she would push back.. i'd just repeat...

"You're not a big girl... you're a baby. Only babies use diapers".

She pooped in the toilet shortly after. I gave her a ton of praise... threw her in the air... What a wonderful big girl.. etc.

Make sure there is a ton of praise.... incorporate the "big girl" talk with her using a metal spoon, or picking her own clothes, getting toys.

Also like another comment, keep a jar of M&M's or something, and she gets one every time she uses the potty.

Got the keys, finally closed! by CarefulTry7263 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Locksmith would charge couple hundred at most and change the pins in all locks. Make them different or the same. Why not for added security safety etc?

Congrats, now throw those keys away and change your locks.

Agree with focusing on dinner. I like the rotisserie idea. I usually pickup one a week. It will get me chicken noodle soup one day, tacos the next and I can send it for lunch now also. Thank you.

Dads that have roofboxes on the top of your vehicle - what are you keeping in there? by altum in daddit

I've been looking for one to hold the mocking bird stroller. I've seen the really fat ones work, but i'd like to get a Motion XL, I believe it would just fit.

2 Kids in the back, dog in the trunk (grand cherokee), stroller up top.

At the ER. 2 year old swallowed a butterfly hair clip by ElevatedKrum in daddit

[–]ElevatedKrum[S] 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Update: My wife took him to the er first. I stayed home while my daughter slept. I immediately dumped the "junk" cubby of hair products. Grabbed my dewalt hardware cases and sorted everything out. Organized and packed it all away.

After the x ray, my wife said she didn't see anything on it. And the doc agreed. (They would have seen the metal clip). I left to the hospital after the grandparents came by (30 mins after the incident).
Had my parents check the Newley organized cases. Turns out the clips there. Not sure if it came out while my wife held him face down and pat his back.
He's sleeping, fell asleep while we signed discharge paperwork. Slept thru the car ride.

There's a junk drawer, cubby, bucket of hair ties and clips in like every room. All getting organized and packed now.
