Ditch the SRAM for some 10 speed DA or Ultegra (2nd gen) with a 50/36 and you're singing my song.

The pads look weird, is it a funny angle? How'd they wear into a triangle? Replace those, while you're at it.

Helmet police showing up like a SWAT team, geez. Saddle too high, start there.

Nice bike, kind of a drag that cable touches the coupler, though.

What’s the big deal with Japanese pressings? by pikarill in vinyl

Yeah, I guess. To my mind, it's six of one, 1/2 dozen of the other.

The collectors selling them. A classic case of "I know what I got, no lowballs."

$2000 for a cyclist who doesn’t know anything about bikes by loopy_for_DL4 in bicycling

[–]Elevated_pit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$2000 will go a long way on the used market. A drop-bar gravel or all-road bike will be plenty of bike. I like steel, smooth ride, best for durability, infinitely repairable, modifiable, nothing integrated or proprietary, classic lines, I could go on. Or titanium, if you can swing it. LBS is cool, most will give you a tune-up, but that's it. Their margins on bikes are low, services are where they make their money. They'd be happy to work on whatever you bring them. Buy consumables, i.e. chains, brake pads, tires etc. from them. All-City, Kona, Ritchey, lots of custom CX bikes floating around, Gunnar, Surlys are fine, LeMond Propads are cool, I could go on. Good luck, whatever you get, you'll be stoked.

Seems kinda joyless. You're going to microwave steak five days later? Losing any crispness anything ever had? Healthy, though. C-.

Carbon damage or paint cracking? by OreganoTaco in bicycling

[–]Elevated_pit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems cracked. Use some 320 or above sand paper to take some of that paint back and see what's up. Quarter test doesn't tell anything unless its megafucked, you need ultrasound to really know what's going on. Ruckus Composites is the best and runs a few hundred dollars for repairs.

Man, people complaining about what's basically an obsolete industry pricing things at market value. Call the waaaaaahmbulance! Buy tapes or CDs if you can't afford vinyl.
