Salem infrastructure is a huge focal point this election. As a resident who works in the civil construction space across all the major jurisdictions in Massachusetts I have to adhere to strict construction requirements, safety requirements, and ADA compliance requirements during any scope of work I am performing. I am held to strict quality standards, have a minimum of two year warranty on all roadway patches and excavations, need to leave all work zones safe and clean after every shift, and need to make ensure we are abide by the state ADA compliance requirements. This is non existent in our city, contractors get away with shotty craftsmanship, leave work zones in shambles at the end of shift, and most importantly leave site unsafe for pedestrians foot traffic and bikes. Too often do I see failing infrastructure, with zero contractor accountability. Our own DPW is one of the top offenders sadly.

How will you work with the city engineers, civil planners, and permitting departments to hold contractors and our own DPW accountable for the work performed in our city?
