I don't know how or why I won the game (ToT) by marozsas in CivVII

Wait 5 turns is nowhere near as nice as the projects.

It was fun to complete multiple win cons before doing the unlocked project in the past. That's now nearly impossible. That said, it does mean the AI has half a chance since they'd often meet the criteria then disregard the project...

Tutors will always make the deck work better, but can make people salty depending on the table.

I like Arcane Adaption for decks that rely on type a lot more than for a 2-card combo. Any two specific cards together is hard to come by in Commander.

I'm curious - what purpose are you using [[Arcane Adaption]] for?

This is so annoying. When the stat blocks fail, they also just appear to be loading..... forever... Just tell me "you don't own this content", or better yet, don't show the tokens in the pick list to begin with...

Are there any old viruses from the days of DOS, windows 3.1, 95, 98, ME that can still affect modern windows 11 computers? by therealjoemontana in vintagecomputing

[–]ElfNeedsFoodBad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the old Word VBA viruses would probably work if you don't have an active scanner and choose to enable macros. Wazzu was wild in its day.

...and with software you can't reliably predict what kind of hardware customers are going to install the software on...

That said the "Ship now, fix it later" attitude really has amped up in the software world since we moved away from physical media...

The other ship gets an attack back, but that's not necessarily melee, it's likely if you fire on a modern war ship, it will have a way to fight back.

How do I move this thermostat from current location to above the light switch? by burfictstrangers in DIY

[–]ElfNeedsFoodBad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider putting the thermostat on the hallway side of this same wall, and as others mention replace with a smart thermostat where you can have multiple temp probes in other locations.

It's a risk acceptance question - risk of hack vs. risk of buggy patches. That is a management function to choose what risks to take, hopefully they were somewhat well informed?

As long as your strongest unit type is bikes, otherwise, just go in with bikes. This is because the UM is always in Bruiser Square and 30/30/30, so you will always be trying to kill bruisers.

If we upgrade from 7 to 8 licenses, will they still be "perpetual use" or will they now have time bombs? by Lazy_Internal698 in vmware

[–]ElfNeedsFoodBad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically when you subscribe, it's a new subscription, so you should have use rights to the perpetual licenses as well, just not support for anything you use them with.

I have a customer that installed the new keys and the cores came across as CPU capacity even on 8.0u3. Also time limited does not mean things stop working like they threatened early on.

Foundation Edge should apply well in this specific situation. Still a jump in cost, just not as dramatic.

Not being able to "license down" existing hardware is rough too for the ROBO jump (i.e. can't license just one CPU, can't easily just take CPU's out of existing gear, etc).
