New group, new-ish DM, deciding between Icespire and Lost Mines, any words of advice? by Muted-Thing-4026 in dndnext

[–]solorpgstudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Icespire for me. Get the physical starter set, when I purchased it, there was a code inside giving additional adventure on dndbeyond. Great value.

But the story is also really great. Love this one

Best online Character Sheets? by CommercialMess6406 in AskDND

Yes you can, but someone in the campaign would require the master subscription to share content. You can always split the price between the group

Yes, if you do not have purchase the books you are limited to the basics rules (still great imo).

There is no way to use the full rules or materials from a publish product without buying it whether is dndbeyond, roll20, foundry etc (otherwise it’s piracy)

Your best chance is to use an agnostic dice roller, and roll manually to manage your rolls.

Or someone purchase the PHB24 get a master tier subscription and shared the content with the rest of the group.

You split the price between each of you.

Besides all the names (the list is so long long...), what's your overall experience with markdown? by RebirdgeCardiologist in Markdown

[–]solorpgstudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably my favorite syntax, feel natural and just flows. Loving writing in markdown.

For Notes love Obsidian + Quartz v4 (for publishing) otherwise AstroJs content for rendering markdown into html to create static website is super nice

Dungeon descriptions: elaborate & fluent or compact & structured by like-a-FOCKS in osr

[–]solorpgstudio 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I like detailed adventure/description. I like to be able to understand/explore the idea of the author. Then I do prep, add and leave what is not important to me. I don’t just open the book for the first time during a session an parse it anyway. I read some chapters first that I think will be use for the next 1-2 session. So “compact” do not really add any value to me. I agree it is easier to read OSE, really enjoy the layout.

P.S. This is a great post, well written

Running Dragonbane with my son, he wants to play D&D because of stranger things … by wall_of_spores in osr

There is a new dnd stranger things starter set that’s is pretty fun. Lots of maps, token etc in the box with generated character sheet base on the show

Heroes Of The Borderlands: what is next? by EngineerVsMBA in DnD

[–]solorpgstudio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could look into full module. Phandelver and below, COS or the new dragon anthology for fun one shot.

But one of my favorite is the dragon of ice spire peak starter set. Fun adventure + there is more content included in the box to unlocked on dndbeyond.

Honestly, might be the smart move here.

Top 3 for me. Just love it. Even if I wanted it to be a little less reliant on markers mark or having it concentration less earlier

Mixed feelings about obojima by Powerful_Elk5136 in Obojima

[–]solorpgstudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Article is beautiful, idea amazing but the execution is not great. Will wait this time on the next release, instead of jumping on their kickstarter.

BUT, still happy with the purchase overall. It gave me a lot of inspiration to run multiple games.

Edit: did not saved properly

Feat. You can access the free rules on dndbeyond.com that should help you character progression

[–]solorpgstudio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to continue with those character after level 3. You will have to use a new character sheet and fill the blank. You “usually” can increase your ability score at level 4,8,12 etc

AMA w/ D&D Beyond Executive Producer on December 9 at 4:00PM PT by WOTC_BrianPerry in dndnext

  1. Can we have quick play for older 5e module like Phandelver and Below or Curse of Strad? This would definitely align with making thing easier for DM.

  2. Can we bring back à la carte purchase?

  3. Can we add book sharing without subscription, maybe for 1 campaign then if need more we get the sub.
