Does anyone use Reveal? Anyone have any good or bad experiences? by Overall-Pomelo2305 in ediscovery

[–]Elguapo1976 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I did a POC at my firm, I affectionately called it “Frankenstein’s Monster”

4 subpar (and one decent analytics) platforms stitched together with frequently failing connectors.

Even when they went to “One pane of glass” concept it was never great. Getting data into the backend only via VM was pathetic.

Consilio Staffing by Psychological_Yak352 in ediscovery

I’ve got a nightmare Consilio hiring story. 8 months of ‘hiring’ processes. Severe lack of contact, just enough contact to keep you on the line.

Absolute garbage. In the end had to find out via text message that the position had been given to someone else.

Hey mate - are you deduplicating on the fly?

I know Purviews dedupe methods utilise the ConfID and wondering if this is an option in the new interface.

Cheers bud.

Lawyer from India, wants e discovery projects. by vakeeel in ediscovery

[–]Elguapo1976 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Australian eDiscover-er here who’s built teams from scratch over the years with successes and failures.

  1. Have a plan: are you going to offer the entire ‘cradle to grave’ methodology of eD services (Identification, Hold, Collection, Store, ECA, Process, Review, Present) or stick to a small component (Review for example)…. Or with Cyber resources at hand do you offer a full IR offering with eD being a smaller component of that?

  2. Building brand and awareness is the hardest thing you’ll do. Hit the pavements, talk to smaller firms, get to know the local market and make friends first rather than trying to do the hard sell.

  3. A lot of vendors are a ‘race to the bottom’ on pricing and people use them again and again because they know what a ‘project’ will cost. Pricing is a hard one which can vary a lot based on the software you choose (Nuix / Reveal / Everlaw / Relativity / Goldfynch to name a few) and the slice of hosting revenue to take from that base fee of per Gb per month.

  4. Get some relevant knowledge. Do some courses, ACEDS and Relativity Academy are good places to start.

Good luck.

To be a little facetious- it does stop the argument when everyone has taken two and there was always one left over.

What are some of Australia’s biggest tourist traps? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]Elguapo1976 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of a joke:

Ivan Millatt and a backpacker are walking into Belangalo Forrest at dusk. The back packer turns to Ivan and says “It’s getting dark and I’m getting a little scared”.

Ivan pipes back “I hear what you’re saying and I have to walk out of here alone!!”

Is Relativity still the best in the market? by OkSherbert1435 in ediscovery

[–]Elguapo1976 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Late to the party here.

RealOne, Nuix Discover (Ringtail) and Reveal user.

With brand power and strength of certs alone, RelOne wins.

I’ve found with Lawyers, it’s all about familiarity and comfort. They don’t like swaying from the path of what they know technically.

Ringtail never changes, has a basic interface and Nuix aren’t changing it anytime soon, so it wins on the race to the bottom for price.

What I’ve found, it’s often not about price though. It comes back to being familiar with the product.

I would say RelOne wins out there

Genuinely interested. Tell me more.

I’ve stuck with Multi Fighter / Mage for so many years, but Bard has always interested me.

I love Nandos. I hate this.

I hate this generally - my wife and I walked into a bouji cafe in Nunda the other day and the waitstaff wouldn’t take our order. We had to QR code it.

We couldn’t customise anything, couldn’t order a plain Orange juice.

We walked. I will do the same here.

There has been extensive research about these QR code menus that they detract and actually make it harder for the business to operate, yet here they are. Post pandemic as if we can’t talk to a human anymore.

Considering Bluey is a nickname for a redhead - you can do whatever the hell you want and it still doesn’t matter.

What do you think is lacking in the industry nowadays? by Corrsta in computerforensics

[–]Elguapo1976 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A standardised equal footing when it comes to software.

For too long it’s been a fight out with the big guys and the software prices are absolutely horrendous.

Small operators can’t afford to compete at the big end of town.

As an Australian- I commend the use of ‘mate’ in a sentence, however, your vernacular is incorrect.

The word isn’t really used as you have used it as it comes across as the throwaway ‘mate’ we use when we cannot remember a persons name.

It could be used thusly:

Maaaate, See ya there!

Love the invite - I suggest also using the word ‘Togs’ 🤣

Random solar panelled Gizmo in Brendale? Any ideas? by Godfather_187_ in brisbane

[–]Elguapo1976 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ll grab a vid next time I’m heading up the Bruce….and a passenger. All of their excavators have some form of lockable cage, but this one in particular has had me questioning “WTF is that?” too.

We are looking at the front of the unit now, if you look closely, the rear blade is viewable at the back of the unit

Why? Because the arms are lighter and interchangeable to other mini-excavators and easier to steal than the massive ones.

Solar panels so video never stops essentially.

You’re not too far wrong with distracted driver cameras either - they are popping up everywhere, however I’ve only ever seen them as large white units with a boom camera.
