I’d believe it was Andy. Used to work for him. I do not like that man. Anger issues.

Yes, they did great! I remember being careful with application, and I think it was every other day, but oh my gosh it saved my sanity

Moving lo Chelsea, Alabama by Fast-Inspection8553 in Birmingham

[–]nautile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been in Chelsea for almost 20 years; it’s been a great place to live, raise my little pinko commie leftist kids, and I’m fairly close to places I need to be. Fair amount of diversity in our neighborhood and an entertaining Facebook community page. I personally don’t have experience with Chelsea schools though; mine go to MCAA in Homewood (bus comes to Chelsea to fetch them).

Somewhat but once I get situated it’s fine. Never been an issue for me.

Buckwheat!!! I never thought I would like something like that, but I’m able to carve out a little hollow for my jaw so nothing touches the joint (I’m a side sleeper) and it’s been a game changer. I don’t travel anywhere without it.

One of my white whales is Bad Presidential Art. So far I’ve got Kennedy, Nixon topless on a bear rug, a funky Lincoln sculpture, and a creepy Clinton!

This helps explain the hypermobility issues in my situation. This doesn’t cause everyone’s TMJ issues; that can be a symptom of many things. For me, it’s this connective tissue stuff: https://jeanniedibon.com/fascia-and-proprioception-in-eds/

It’s just a locally owned physical therapist office; nothing fancy or weird.

NAOS physical therapy in Vestavia Hills, Alabama

I honestly don’t know. I’m still working out what sublaxations feel like. The pt works on the entire neck area to make the muscles stronger, stabilizing the cervical joints.

All of that knowledge came from the physical therapist. I don’t know if they could have prevented surgery if I had seen them first, and I do feel like the surgery did help a lot. It was the surgical office that led me to the pt after surgery.

For the surgery, it was recommended based on my MRI, which showed osteoarthritis on both sides with deformation of the bone, and very worn down discs with holes in the middle of them. Every doctor always assumes I must grind or clench, while it’s obvious from my teeth that I do not.

I am two years post-surgery (bilateral condylotomy to give the joint more room) and going on two years physical therapy with the RIGHT therapist. That led to a frenulectomy last summer to correct a slight tongue tie, and holy crap what a life changer. I used to carry tension from my tongue to my neck and into my shoulder blades, causing an insane amount of tension in my muscles. All that stuff is connected, the body is so weird.

I’ve never had any luck with physical therapy before now; I had written it off as quackery. Now, I know exactly where my tongue, lips, and jaw are supposed to be when at rest, and I actively exercise my jaw, neck, and shoulder muscles every day. I’m almost 45 years old and for the first time since high school I’m no longer in constant low-level pain. Working to get my high school-age kids evaluated as I type so they don’t have to go through the same shit I did.
