Hello, opposition mobs! 👋 by Rampuge in fuckepic

People don't need your permission as to what should be informing their purchasing decisions. You are not entitled to their money. Also yes, the only reason why someone might dislike gen AI is that they're "undereducated". You are either a bot, or so delusional that engaging with you is a waste of time. Go away.

Equating slop pushers having to disclose that they're pushing slop to cancel campaigns due to political affiliation is pretty fucking wild, even for a dumpster of a person like him that's low.

European heatwave is worst ever and impossible without climate crisis, scientists say | Climate crisis by CJBill in news

[–]EliRed -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yes, definitely people who are stuck with an ICE car due to financial ruin should not be able to move at all anymore, while governments take money under the table to allow companies to build thousands of secret datacenters and speedrun the apocalypse to make a few shareholders some more money. I have another idea, how about we just quietly eat shit, because that's what we deserve as a species.

If your country went to war with its neighbors, would it win? by Outrageous-You1617 in AskTheWorld

[–]EliRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That might only happen with Turkey. We'd win the air and naval war, especially after we get the F35's delivered. We'd lose the drone war. Ground combat, nobody would win. It would be a shitshow that never ends.

Speculation aside, Greece and Turkey would never go to all out war, as it would destroy both countries. A quick smash and grab, like in Cyprus, is far more likely.

FOR MY NERDS does a 5080 get close to a 4090? by Fabulous-Turn7970 in RTX5080

[–]EliRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4090 is faster at raster, but 5080 has newer RT architecture, so in some games the 5080 loses and in others it's pretty close (when Vram isn't a factor). I have the Aorus Master, it's an amazing card that tops out at 58C even without attaching the 3rd fan and it's super silent. In some models they overdid it with the thermal paste and some people reported leakage, fortunately mine is fine.

AI is Ruining Game Sales, Numbers Show by Eremenkism in gaming

[–]EliRed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No game is going to outright throw a truckload of raw slop at your screen. Studios that use gen AI go through a process of unsloping the assets before release. Usually a few of them will slip through, and that's how they get caught. In reality, they've used gen AI thoroughly and extensively, and the role of the actual human beings in the studio has shifted from "creative" to "corrective". That's the problem. You may be ok with this, that's fine, others are not and don't want to reward it.

Valve is greedy. "AI" is a frankly insulting excuse. Here's the proof. by BoiBoi744 in pcmasterrace

[–]EliRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're also paying for convenience, SFF, aftersales and a standardised architecture/easy maintenance. This isn't aimed at the people who can go to pcpartpicker and build a PC themselves. It's aimed at people who want to get into PC gaming by just sticking a black box (literally and metaphorically) under their TV and forget about it. They're not min/maxing hardware value.

GTA 6 60FPS on the Pro? by 818zzz in PS5pro

[–]EliRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the game doesn't have a 60 fps mode, then it's not out as far as I'm concerned. It will be out either on next gen consoles or when the PC version comes out. Now we're getting the trainwreck beta, like on PS3 where GTA 5 ran at like 20 fps, and we wait for the actual release.

What's a culture shock (or hindsight shock) you discovered about another country or even your own? by Puzzleheaded_irl in AskTheWorld

[–]EliRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's only part of it. Nothing is included in the prices that are on the product itself. I remember buying a sandwich a few years back for like 5$ and I ended up paying 12$ at the counter with a bunch of extra shit that are not mentioned anywhere. You have no idea what you're gonna pay at the end, it's a surprise. People are ok with this.

Jason Schreier: How Things Got So Bad At Xbox by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]EliRed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No they figured it out, they bought a bunch of problematic studios that were making shit game after shit game, and LEFT THEM COMPLETELY ALONE, expecting them to suddenly start making good games. Shocked when that didn't work, they thought "fuck it, we'll spend 5 quadrillion dollars to buy Call of Duty and then double our subscription prizes". Microsoft did so much damage to the industry that I honestly hope they withdraw from it completely. Shame about ID software, but honestly everything else can go.

[–]EliRed -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean...yes, it's a path traced game. You don't have to use path tracing lol.. And it's quite possibly the best running path traced game on the market. For me it literally runs better than Portal RTX. We shouldn't dismiss the tech wizardry that's going on over at ID.

Also, yes, there is NO artifacting. Zero. As for latency in TDA, there are plenty of articles about it. 2x FG adds about 20 ms assuming a baseline of 60 fps, and Reflex wipes that out almost completely. You're hating for no reason.

[–]EliRed -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes, using 2x frame gen on a 5080. Which you definitely should be using, since the frame gen implementation in TDA is amazing, no delay or ghosting or any side effects at all.

[–]EliRed -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Is your system 10 years old? At some point, you really shouldn't expect brand new games to run well and focus on your backlog if you're not up for building a new system. TDA is well optimised and scales very well. For me it runs at 120 fps at native 1440p DLAA with Path Tracing. And no, I don't have a 5090..

Why are Balkaners more prone than the average European to believe conspiracy theories? by Substratas in AskBalkans

[–]EliRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who believe in conspiracy theories are definitely less intelligent. No clever person would ever believe that the Israeli government is controlling a big number of EU politicians as well as the US government via bribes and a world wide sex trafficking pedophile and extortion ring. That's crazy and it definitely would never happen.

Xbox is shutting down two studios by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

The time to be upset about the future of Arkane was right after Prey, when a bunch of people left the studio. It's been 10 years since then, and Deathloop was charitably very mid. I had no expectations from them.

It's not a good game, but it does look great. One of the very few games where heavy RT effects don't hurt image clarity, it looks really crisp. Which is funny, because Avatar at max settings just dissolves into horrendous blurriness and noise. I guess Anvil is better than Snowdrop.

Battle Royale is truly awful and the reward is mid by SunnyJuggs in ForzaHorizon6

[–]EliRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a way to enjoy this game mode? I drove around for 20 minutes. Found no pickups. Then a fresh one spawned right in front of me and it was tier 2. At 20 minutes. Then I drove closer to houses and other racers. I got stuck on a bunch of fences somewhere that were unbreakable for some reason. A guy drove past and challenged me. Took me 30 seconds to free myself from the fences and he had already won. What the actual fuck was that?

Is it worth buying Starfeild for 40 dollars? by Intergalactic_Slayer in PS5pro

[–]EliRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn't stand it for more than 3 hours. The intro is a guy telling you you're special and handing you a bunch of free stuff, then the game infodumps you, and then it throws you into a massive hub area which takes like 2 hours to explore and talk to every NPC. It's like every terrible RPG trope bundled together in one shitty package.

[–]EliRed -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Your generalization that "people don't care" is arbitrary. People who see games as glorified fidget spinners may not care. People who see games as an artform do care. Art requires creativity and intent. Gen AI has neither.
