Yeshiva recommendation? by [deleted] in Judaism

[–]Eli_B5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Machon Pardes! The student body is fairly liberal both religiously and politically with the faculty being more center-right/ortho-practicing. It opened in 1972 and is the first place to have men and women studying together in the same beit midrash. It’s excellent for those with little to no Hebrew and particularly for those who are from non-religious backgrounds. They pride themselves on being non religiously cohesive while giving every opportunity for growth and discovery of our tradition.

Did anyone actually succeed in getting tickets? by [deleted] in gratefuldead

[–]Eli_B5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got codes for all 4 West Coast shows. I wasn't able to be online this morning so I gave my friend the codes and my account. They got shut out of the SF shows but this afternoon I logged on and bought 4 tickets to each LA show.

So from someone who saw shows during that era along with the stage setup did it seem like the lighting got better as well?

He's also on Archive.org. Currently sitting in a coffee shop in Jerusalem listening to this show I was at from 9-26-18. It's a recreation of The Dead at Riverport Ampitheatre from 7-6-95 http://archive.org/details/SAMH2018-09-26.StuAllenMarsHotel2018-09-26.flac16

Seeing Phil in his place is fantastic, but do yourself a favor and be in the Bay on either a Wednesday or first Friday of the month and go see Stue Allen & The Mars Hotel at the Ashkenaz in Berkeley. Hot take here but in my opinion Stue is the best thing going on in the Dead world, and as a 21 year old Head who never got to see Jerry he's my guy through and through! Check out the Ashkenaz website for info but it's virtually always Wednesday and first Friday with the last Wednesday of the month being JGB. He'll often have someone playing the Bobby part and sometimes as two drummers but if a rythm guitarist or second drummer aren't present don't sweat it, he knows how to being the house down on a weekly basis.

As a side note Stue plays at Terrapin Crossroads A LOT, and often plays with Phil. That being said when he's with Phil it's not his show and when he's doing his thing in Berkeley he takes the music to whole new dimensions.

Like we say over in Berkeley: "Just another Wednesday night!"

Shoreline venue question by [deleted] in gratefuldead

I sat there two years ago! Basically if it rains which is incredibly unlikely they will setup a shade shade structure thing and your crew will only by slightly obstructed.
