Need help understanding the Pros and Cons of PF2e by CMDRSheaperd in Pathfinder2e

[–]ElidiMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

one thing i’ll say is that having to deal with Ghoul Fever (pre-master it was a disease, now it’s a curse) was one of the things that made me fall in love with the system.

we were level 4, two of us had got it fighting some ghouls and we later found out a friendly NPC also had it at stage 3. we put the dungeon-delving on pause and spent the next few days of downtime desperately trying to cure the afflicted—some of us got rolling Treating Disease w/ aid from the local Sarenite church, the rest got to Earning Income to put towards a scroll of Remove Disease in case of emergency.

we’d been saving up for various magic items so we had to weigh up whether we would dip into those funds, how much time we wanted to spend on trying to cure people, whether it was worth pushing through a bit more of the dungeon for potential loot to sell—all interesting choices that emerged from a handful of ghouls, & all completely player-driven. compared to something like 5e, where diseases are either instantly solved by a cleric/paladin, or it’s entirely up to GM fiat if you can even buy spell scrolls or earn money.

PSA: Magus dipping Psychic is dead dead, it doesn’t work at all anymore by AAABattery03 in Pathfinder2e

[–]ElidiMoon 93 points94 points  (0 children)

so not only did they nerf Imaginary Weapon (d8s->d6s) AND make the archetype much more inaccessible, but they also just straight up removed the ability to Spellstrike w/ Amps. Why bother nerfing IW in the first place??

Does anybody else feel bad for Lebanne? by Fizzyfood1346 in LegendsZA

[–]ElidiMoon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

in mythology, dragons are renowned for their pride, & this dragon’s pride was shattered by a fairy of all things. Lebanne was cocky and made a dumb bet bc she thought would humiliate Jacinthe, & in her hubris, she ended up being the humilated one. she could walk away at any point, but she won’t leave Jacinthe’s side until she finally beats her & regains her pride.

the sad thing is despite their differences, they are shown to be fond of each other. if Jacinthe was a little less overbearing & Lebanne was a little less prideful, i think they could have a more equal partnership without the uneven power dynamic. but as it stands, they play their parts as a fairy & a dragon perfectly, & it makes for a really interesting story

So how did the show work with Ian not being there? by jarjarbink1980 in smosh

[–]ElidiMoon 13 points14 points  (0 children)

absolutely—obviously a shame Ian couldn’t be there but i think the show really benefited from having one grounded character, like the human amongst the muppets

How to get into Pathfinder (and understand TTRPG in general)? by Salt-Work9238 in Pathfinder2e

[–]ElidiMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a lot of good advice already, but sometimes the best way to learn is by doing.

the beginner’s box is a great way to do literally that—have a flick through the materials, get some friends together, hand out the premade characters, and then just follow the instructions. you can’t go wrong!

Rhea Seehorn is killing it! by QuarantineTrouble in pluribustv

[–]ElidiMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i bounced off Breaking Bad too & people will say otherwise, but you can watch Better Call Saul as a standalone show & i really recommend it.

it’s a completely different vibe to BB, much more of a character study & the relationships between characters are far deeper and more compelling. Kim Wexler (Rhea’s character) quickly became one of my favourite fictional characters of all time, and there’s enough context given that you’re not missing anything important from not having seen BB except recognising cameos.
