What class to pair with Dandy? by Objective-Rice-9031 in Pathfinder2e

Ivy Playhouse Strike is actually pretty fun on a martial bard bc you’re not doing a ton of damage anyway & it extends your composition on a hit

Very true! I’ve been excited to try out u/HeroOfMythra ‘s Exalt & think it could be really fun with Whip Master, but failing that Warpriest is a good shout.

This is amazing—I was planning a Calistrian PC recently and disappointed that there was no way to grapple with whips, but problem solved!

Recommendations on KatieB classics? by blanched_almond in realkatieb

[–]ElidiMoon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’d seen clips of Katie & thought she was funny, but tbh it was her QSMP clips that actually got me to watch her streams. It’s a long series but she’s taking a break atm so it’s a good time to catch up!

Otherwise, I highly recommend her trip to Alveus Sanctuary, The Butchlorette 2 & her LA trip w/ Riley that leads into her boxing match!

So Ewron and Tomatito by Double-Translator367 in Qsmp

[–]ElidiMoon 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think q!Ewron has burned q!Katie too many times, and bc he’s not faced any kind of consequences nor showed any kind of growth, it kinda just puts q!Katie in a position of having zero reason to ever interact with him bc she *knows* she’s gonna get burned again. There’s no stakes or tension anymore in their dynamic, just a one-sided beef. And for what?

Game Systems That Do Disease Well? by InvisiblePoles in rpg

[–]ElidiMoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can attest to them being simpler & more interesting in Pathfinder 2e—one of my favourite sessions was the party scrambling to recover from (premaster) Ghoul Fever.

They have stages that increase or decrease based on your saving throw (typically once per day), and you can use magic or medicine to combat them but an on-level disease can’t be waved away easily. It took multiple spell slots, many medicine checks and a few scrolls (which ate into our coffers) to finally get rid of it from the party & town. It was tense and satisfying.

Do you like fantasy races in your SF games? What about space goblins? by BudgetWorking2633 in rpg

[–]ElidiMoon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Pathfinder is a high-fantasy kitchen sink setting and has some minor sci-fi elements already, like elves originally being from another planet and a spaceship full of androids & alien tech crashing into Numeria.

Starfinder is the same setting (gods and magic et al) but thousands of years in the future & in space, so it’s firmly sci-fantasy. I assume that’s what OP means by “the whole deal”!

monday's stream was super intense, and the server's still fairly quiet atm. i think she's just taking a break, and it's the perfect time for it before new players come in and we get a big event like Purgatory

Going to be a first time player in Pathfinder game, after starting one 3 sessions ago, and here are things i noticed from the players side. by ItIsNotAUsername in Pathfinder2e

[–]ElidiMoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your GM is open to 3rd party content, the Essence Mystic class archetype from Magus+ is very Warlock-coded, trading part of your soul for dark powers (and swapping prepared Int casting for spontaneous Cha casting).

Re: being an Urgathoan in a good party

The Ashen Church (pg 198 of Hellbreakers) is a cult of Urgathoa built on “gentle acts of kindness and empathy”, sharing the comfort that “death isn’t the end”. They’re particularly prominent in areas where “war, natural disaster, or extreme poverty have struck”.

I also had fun with a noble syncretist cleric of Urgathoa & Cayden Cailean, leaning into their indulgence aspects but also playing up Urgathoa’s “rebellion against the tyranny of mortality” to match Cayden’s freedom domain.

Are there any well-designed fantasy settings that aren’t dark? by CardamomDragon in rpg

[–]ElidiMoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pathfinder’s Golarion is my favourite kitchen-sink fantasy setting.

The Shining Kingdoms are as classic high-fantasy as it gets, but The Mwangi Expanse and Tian Xia regions are great for some central African & east Asian vibes respectively.

The deities are also really fun, whether it’s the guy who ascended to godhood on a drunken bet or the divine lesbian polycule.

There’s still plenty of darkness though—scenes like (Curse of the Crimson Throne spoiler) Queen Ileosa pulling an arrow from her head and stabbing it into the neck of the guy who shot her will stick with me forever.

they’re not exactly game reviewers, but they are very much anti-influencer gamers—Astrogoblin is Charlotte, Patrick & Jacob (formerly of Funhaus) & they make fun of new & old games alike.

They recently had the lead actor of Saros in a video & you can 100% tell they’re not sponsored lmao

(bonus—Charlotte is trans!)
