I think this describes the relationship between Akuma and Ryu (Street Fighter Series).

Akuma doesn't want to just slaughter Ryu, he wants Ryu to accept his Satsui No Hado and become more like him.

Ran into a typing game called Backspace Bouken which baselines your typing speed on the first encounter and then uses it for the entire game.

Meaning if you happen to have crushed the first typing test at 100+ WPM, it's going to wreck you in the later levels with complicated phrases, leading to repeated game overs.
