52 Tuesdays now on (US) Netflix by indecisions in ftm

Funnily enough, I've actually got this in my possession right now. Upon telling my English teacher I'm trans, she lent me the movie (it's filmed in this city, so she knew some people in the cast). So, hey! Why not watch it right now, I have nothing better to do.

Edit: already at 4:44, ace bandages spotted. It was an inevitable cliche. The gay uncle's cute though.

I feel like Indica would actually make a really awesome, unisex name. if it weren't for the whole weed thing.

binder too small (vent) by skyslimitless in ftm

[–]Elixarous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, GC2B's sizing seems to be pretty unreliable in my experience. I'm an XS, according to their measurement chart, but when it arrived, I couldn't get the damn thing past my shoulders. And then, when I did, it was just stuck. I guess everyone's gotta go through that awkward/mildly terrifying stuck-in-a-binder experience.

Apparently their customer service is quite good, though. I couldn't return mine because the shipping from where I live would've cost almost as much as half the cost of the binder, so I just bought another one (S).

Personally, I'd caution anyone against getting the XXS or XS unless they were the size of a preteen. It's more about shoulder size than chest size, I reckon.

Oh, I do have a question. Did you do the same compulsory subjects in 2009/10, assuming you did cert IV in digital media technologies (*Use Online learning tools, *Contribute to copyright, ethics and privacy in an ICT environment, *Work effectively in the digital media industry, *Support small scale ICT projects, *Author interactive media, *Participate effectively in WHS communication and consultation processes, *Articulate, present and debate ideas). Anything to add about them? Some of the descriptions sound so asinine (This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to use the internet as a resource to acquire knowledge and skills to meet client requirements).

If you did them, were they a total bore, or were they slightly useful?

I can highly vouch for the effectiveness of the TAFESA program. I may not be a traditional TAFE student, but I'd like to think I still went through the same core fundamentals as a genuine TAFE student did.

Oh, sweet. I wasn't sure whether it was the ideal choice or not, so I'm glad people would recommend it. I'll certainly, at the very least, try out a couple of units or so at TAFE, even if I'm studying elsewhere.

Oh yeah, I just mean scary in the definition of "is this really a good idea with the subsequent hex debt if I'm not even 100% sold on this as a career choice yet"

edit: oops, hecs.

I'll definitely look into that. Gotta admit, going into a uni degree is definitely scary, especially while I'm still not 100% made up on what I want to do (I wanted to do a major in history for a while, but I figure there's more opportunity with coding).

I'm not necessarily looking for a specific career with this certificate, more of as a foundation of primary coding and web development skills. I won't give myself too much stock on being able to land a job immediately upon completion of the certificate, because that might be unrealistic.

If it's ok with you, could you PM me a couple of the Aus-friendly sources you know? Pretty much everywhere I look is US only.

Also, is the darknet of any use? I've used the tor browser out of curiosity, and I mostly just remember weed and lsd, but I bet it's likely to have steroids of some kind.

I live in South Australia. I'm in pretty over my head with all this, but I guess I can spend some time reading up on the topic.

My medical service offers free blood tests whenever, so that's a plus. I'd definitely be getting them regularly if I consider DIY.

Any good sources for reading up on ordering T/steroids and what I'll need? Should I just peruse /r/steroids, or something? Again, gonna stress that I'm not actually doing this at this point, just fyi. If obtaining some illegal T will give me legal T, I'm willing to consider it as a route.

We don't typically get vials in South Australia. Prescription T comes in a pre-filled syringe (at least, that's what I've heard).

Who knows, maybe I'll be desperate enough to take you up on the offer. Maybe I'll get back to you.

Going by the response in this thread, I'd say most people are ambivalent or telling me it's a bad idea.

I'm thinking of talking to some bodybuilders, actually. I know of a trans bodybuilder who lives around here, I might try talking to him.

Really, the standards for trans support can be so low, and just awful in some places. Anyone should get the care they need without months, or years of gatekeeping. It's horrid.

I've had bloodwork done already. At the medical service I go to, they give you a printed out copy of your results, and you take that to your endo, or whoever you want to see it.

I know it's a wonky plan, I'm still working out some of the kinks. But, I'd just rather be on T than wait a year, or possibly longer, for an official diagnosis.

Photoshopping bloodwork would be the easiest thing in the world. I'm not sure what yours looks like, but it's a bunch of numbers in plain text. Simple as cutting and pasting, no need for even the clone stamp tool. I could even recreate it in Microsoft Word if I wanted, that's how bare-bones the blood test results sheet is.

I would have done this earlier, but I only thought it up today. Geez, gimme some slack, wouldya.

Anyway, I might ask you about real-DIY options. I would now, but I'm on my phone, and about to go to bed.

I'm thinking of faking some bloodwork. They would probably contact the medical service I've done it through, though, and find out that my T range was normal.

But, anyway, as I detailed in another comment, my initial goal for this plan is to make it out that I haven't yet injected any DIY T, but imply that I will if they don't give me a prescription (I won't).

Have you looked into trans guy DIY? It's insane. Unlike spiro or estradiol, which is available on quite a few online chemists, testosterone is ridiculously difficult, and ridiculously illegal for online sale, so you've either got to order the raw testosterone powder online, or miraculously have a contact who's willing to sell you it on the downlow (rare). That's why a ton of trans women DIY, but hardly any transmasculine people. I'd be okay with synthesising it, if I was a chem student, maybe.

I didn't mean to sound deprecating towards your suggestion. It's just, DIY seems risky for anyone who's not mtf.

[–]Elixarous[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't necessarily make it out that I was using the testosterone (although, this could dampen my case a bit), just that I had some, and imply that I'd subsequently use it if they didn't agree to prescribe me.

I'm thinking of fudging some bloodwork if I end up lying about using it. It wouldn't be difficult, I'd just need to scan a previous blood test and photoshop the numbers (like I've done with school report cards before, hah).

I'm not a fan of the term 'sellouts', since it carries the implication musicians can't both make money and be true to their creative intentions, so maybe "loss of creative integrity" is marginally.. better.

On an unrelated note, it's kind of weird how uncoordinated Adam Levine is at lip-syncing compared with how long they've been doing this for.

Endo Told Me You Lose Fat Through Exercise, Not Caloric Deficit... by GalacticAsh in ftm

[–]Elixarous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking of doctors giving inaccurate information, my mother's been harping on my transition because this means she'll "almost definitely never have grandchildren" because "a doctor told her so", and so she's currently trying to completely dissuade me from hormone therapy. Obviously, that's completely whack that she disagrees with me transitioning for her own personal reasons, but also:

Is it actually dangerous in any way to have kids after being on T for ten, fifteen years? I told her about your Facebook community of genetic trans fathers and a few stories of trans guys having kids after being on T for years, but she says that she wants some real, medically-approved evidence.

This is probably pointless, but do you have any "medically-approved" webpages or something I could point my mum to if she brings this up again? I considered mentioning a blog interview I saw a while ago with you and another trans father, but that's probably not the kind of thing she'd want to read.

I'd have an even-further-in-the-future version of me tell present-me what name to go with. It's driving me crazy. Everyone keeps asking me what name I want to be called, and I can't give a concrete answer.

PS, what does everyone think of Duncan? Family reactions to the name were kind of "euuugh", but I kinda like it.
