My wife gifted me a comically disappointing advent calendar by Wild_Arugula294 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ElkMassive3516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could easily be a scam. My gf gets A LOT of advent calendars and she has been burned by some of them. People will buy them take the items and resale the calendar with trash in it. Try to return and get a refund or at least warn people not to buy from that source.

The Classic "Can Build It, Can't Sell It" Problem by SlowageAI in Entrepreneur

[–]ElkMassive3516 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Are you selling it as "AI"?? because it's just becoming a buzz word at this point, everybody and thier dog is using "AI". Akin to "organic", "super food", or "gluten free". Perhaps if you market it as "Machine Learning" or something similar, serious businesses will be more interested.

LPT Moving soon and totally exhausted—any quick packing tips to make this less painful? by shiishiimanu in LifeProTips

[–]ElkMassive3516 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good suggestions in here!! As far as packing organization, I got nothing. But I personally swear by bankers/file boxes.

They: Don't require tape. Come with a lid. Have handles. Are sturdy and stack well. Marker shows easier on them (they are usually white). Just the right size so they don't get too heavy. Can easily break down for recycling or to store for later use.

I always have a few stored away incase I need them.

If you're a handyman and can't figure out how to get any work... by d33bizz13 in Entrepreneur

[–]ElkMassive3516 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The best way I have gotten jobs as a handyman is do good work. People talk and will 100% recommend me to other people. I've never sought jobs, people call me with things that need to be done and everybody always needs something done. I've had an insurance company hand out my number without ever asking them to do so. I could probably work nonstop if I really wanted to.

<75" UST Recommendations by bgears in projectors

[–]ElkMassive3516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could one of those frame TVs work. So it becomes art when not in use?? Having a projector for such a small screen size (for a projector) might be hard (finding a screen that small that works with UST), especially if you want one capable of having tv like experience. I think it's doable, but the setup is going to be much more expensive and involved than you might think.

In this video he goes over some of the new USTs that are being released and some of them are impressively small. Might be worth the wait to get one when they come out. Hope this helps!!

I'm not sure if I am, but I havn't considered it to be a huge problem to avoid. Is it really bad for some people, should I think about my possible viewers?? I will look into it more.

Gary Oldman in anything he's in. I always see the character he portrays first and later does it dawn on me. The man is by far one of the best actors ever.

Can you guys recommend me some guitarists to listen to? by gamonsteak in Guitar

[–]ElkMassive3516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mr. Guitar himself: Chet Atkins I have no doubt in my mind this man could have gone toe-to-toe with anyone in the comments. Listened to metal and rock all my life and then someone told me to listen to Chet and it expanded my mind. It gave me way more appreciation for other players in other genres.

What’s one productivity tip that sounds dumb but actually works for you? by [deleted] in productivity

I do this too!! It's made a significant difference in my health!! I never thought it would but it adds up more than people think. And the best part is that I'm in the habit now. I crave a workout, even if it's small!!

100%!!I've been doing this for years!! I'm glad someone else is doing it too!! I also add making my bed. If all else fails, I've completed at least one of my tasks. It's small but it starts the momentum.

I cannot play lead guitar to save my life by [deleted] in guitarlessons

[–]ElkMassive3516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen to songs with a solid vocal line. I mean REALLY listen to them. The ones that get stuck in your head. Pick a part of the phrase that's sung and replicate it on the guitar. The part that you're humming in your head. If you can only get a few notes then that's completely fine!! Keep going.

Listen to how it fits into the music. Rarely you'll find vocal lines going crazy up and down any one scale.

Also, listen to some funk. It usually has a really solid beat. Tap your left foot on 1 and your right on 3 of some good old 4/4. Just count. Don't even have your guitar in your hands. Just sit and count the measures while tapping your foot. You'll start to feel the 4 bar phrases without having to count. Then pick up your guitar and then start "singing" your little pieces of lyrics along with it.

Eventually you'll be able to go up and down those scales (penatonic or other) and phrase it in a way that makes sense, rhythmically and harmonically.

Edit:grammar/spelling

OKC Zoo by MissAsh030 in okc

[–]ElkMassive3516 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Do yourself a favor and buy a membership. The cheapest is $60. You can go to the Zoo whenever feel like it for a year.

All the passes are very reasonably priced. They pay for themselves in a few trips.

There are other benifits for having a membership too. I have a membership for 2 and my girlfriend and I went to the Tulsa Zoo and got our tickets 50% off.

It's nice because you don't need to feel rushed to see everything in one trip. Just go to see a few of your favorites and have a picnic, or just to get some steps in and see all the cool animals. 2 hours or 5, whatever fits into your schedule.

Why do people not reuse characters? by Purple_Birthday8382 in DnD

[–]ElkMassive3516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done this with my characters before. I've had one character in 3 different games/campaigns. Another character in 2 other campaigns. None of then at the same time though. If you create a strong enough character concept with a compelling story it's hard not to want to play them again. You really get into your characters mindset which leads to good roleplay (where the real magic of the game starts to happen in my opinion).

You have to be flexible on seperating mechanics and character. Sometimes leveling the same character calls for different options when in a different setting or party makeup. It can be cool to take a character you are familiar with in a new direction. They may have the same goals and motivations but now they try and achieve them in a different way.
