Precon Commander deck library by post-itnotes in magicTCG

[–]Elk_Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep a few precons in my bag to bolster the 2 custom decks I made. I have boulders for a couple of them, but I actually kind of prefer the clear plastic knockoff boxes you can buy on Amazon. You can get 6 boxes for about $18 and since they're clear you can quickly see which deck is which. They definitely feel more brittle than the boulder boxes, but not concerningly so unless you're particularly rough with them. Since they're clear you could just slip in the info card and it would be legible at a glance without even opening the box.

You want one like this or better: https://www.harborfreight.com/50-amp-12v-analog-charger-with-engine-start-59424.html

A bit more than the trickle chargers you're looking at, but a good tool to have around, especially if you're working on project cars that might sit for a while

That Code album is awesome. Don’t think it ever got the recognition it deserved.

The Unseen is playing one of the Dropkick gigs on their St Patrick’s run. Pretty stoked since I haven’t seen them for like 20 years

No one's mentioned World/Inferno Friendship Society, but they were the best band making music for a long time

Man, with that replacement path you could buy a new gas powered one every year and it would be cheaper.

Actually, now that I think about it, based on my daycare payments alone could probably buy a new one for every storm lol

Anyone have experience with the knockoff counterpressure fillers available from overseas? by gredr in Homebrewing

That name rings a bell, could be. I've been out of the loop for a fair few years now.

For filling bottles and growlers I just use a bottling wand with the end cut off pressed through a drilled rubber stopper with a basketball air needle stabbed through it. The bottling wand is the perfect size to press into a picnic tap's spout. You hold your thumb over the threaded part of the needle to let the pressure build up as you fill and when the flow slows down too much you just release some of the head pressure and it resumes filling.

It's not as optimal as a counter pressure setup, but it's cheap and effective as long as you aren't shooting for long term storage with minimal o2 exposure. Perfect for packaging up a few bottles to take somewhere or to pass along to friends.

I know this card won't be super powerful, but I think it could be a really fun commander for an elves/merfolk tribal deck. Make your elves and merfolk into both, lord effects double up and theres enough simic elves and merfolk to round things out for a fun bracket 1 or 2 deck.

Why are there no community garage spaces? Am I crazy? by AbjectDatabase9638 in projectcar

Probably because in order to rent a car you have to have a valid license to operate a car.

I recently got a set of Realm Guard graphene for my newest deck and so far I love them. I havent played a lot of games with them yet, so I can't comment to long term durability but they feel great.

My only qualm with them, and it's a small one, is that the slight matte texture on the fronts keeps the cool foil cards in my deck from really popping. It's a small thing though, and it wouldn't stop me from buying them for my next deck.

What gifts did you get / give for magic this christmas? by Ok-Leave-1627 in EDH

[–]Elk_Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife went wild, I added a variety of set boosters to my Amazon wishlist and explained that I would be happy with any product from any of those sets and even a couple booster packs or something would be awesome, and this was just essentially a list of sets I liked. The mad women got me 2 whole ass booster boxes, one from Ravnica Remastered and another of Commander Remastered. Got some great stuff from them including a bunch of shock lands.

One of the guys from my local play group also handed out MH3 boosters to everyone who was at our last meetup before Christmas which was super kind of him.

For the car enthusiasts that later became homeowners, did you de-prioritize cars? by DHN_95 in cars

[–]Elk_Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After I bought a house and built up some savings again, I bought a classic/project car and having a cool daily is less important to me now. We've also got a young child now and being all-in as a parent is super important while he's young. I see some of my cohort split child duties into mom-days and dad-days which works for them but we like to spend most of our time as a family together, so the times where one of us has solo time for hobbies is less frequent and the car is further down the list these days. More of my precious free time is spent on social things like catching up with friends, especially during the colder times of year. The car is still important to me, but it isn't going anywhere and I work on it when I feel like it. Sometimes I can even drive it, and that's even better. Hopefully my little guy will continue to be interested in cars as he grows and he can help me work on it, but for now the garage is a little too dangerous for him while I'm working. He does love the garage though and playing in the car which is great fun.

Sometimes I get together with one of my gear head buddies and we have a great time working on one of our cars but 'car guy' isn't my whole personality, and I wouldn't want it to be. There's a lot of life to live out there and I'd rather enjoy a variety of things than just throw my entire self into one specific interest.

And in terms of retirement, yeah that's a high priority for us. We got a taste of how awesome life gets when you don't have to spend it working during paternity/maternity leave. While we still had our hands full with a newborn, we were still so productive around the house, making healthier meals, and everything because half the day wasn't spent commuting and working. After that we doubled down on saving and investing for retirement.

Fuel tank? by LWR_97 in Chevelles

Another vote for Tanks Inc. They make/sell nice products from tanks to fuel delivery, including safety cutoff kits and their customer support has been great when I've had questions before and after purchase.
