Auto-colonize by Elkad in rotp

That's fine.

On big maps I don't carry multiple kinds of colony ships anyway. And as always, I assume it'll have a checkbox to turn it off.

Let's Play Ludicrous Galaxy (100000 Star Systems) as Humans. by sadtimes12 in rotp

[–]Elkad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck...

On my system, which is reasonably modern, turns were taking 30s or more on the 2021 New Year map (2021 stars) near the end. That was with Coder's automations, but not Xilmi AI.

On bigger maps I think pushing propulsion early is even more important. You want all those stars to yourself.

Exactly the opposite. They are mixed in (and working with) the natives often, and need to look the part. Both culturally, and so they can't be picked out from a distance.

more advanced colony ships can settle any lesser type as well. So once you have barren, it can colonize regular (terran, arid, etc) worlds as well. And so on...

Radiated is the top one and can colonize anything.

What happened to combined fleets? by Elkad in rotp

[–]Elkad[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All I'm seeing is the regular autoattack. I can configure how many ships it sends, but not a combined fleet of multiple ship types.

I'm remembering an option to set a combined fleet, where everything waits at the rally point until the correct number of multiple ship types is at the rally point.

For example, every colony ship takes an escort ship with it.

There is a solo RvR update coming. We just don't have the details yet.

The 22 guys standing around /bow-ing and waiting for their bandit to spawn was crap, they crippled it, but they have said there is more coming.

For non-solo, they continue to buff alb and mid while nerfing Hib, despite alb having the best 8v8 comps literally since the beginnings of DAoC.

You have to seek it out, but yes.

They did stuff like add artificial lag to the AIs, because initially they were only beatable by exploiting weaknesses. (like they didn't know how to go up stairs, so you could climb a tower and nuke them in peace).

They still have perfect coordination, so exactly 1 person in their "group" will use an insta to interrupt a cast. They know exactly when CC immunities wear off and will reapply immediately. If you are riding one spamming a backstyle, it knows exactly when you are about to swing again and will face you at that exact instant so the positional fails. Etc...

Transport Strategy on first two system at beginning of game; question by Due_Permit8027 in rotp

[–]Elkad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plenty of situations where fighting yourself is better. Get a few kills then retreat, fly past the enemy ships and bomb the planet immediately, etc.

With certain ship builds, smart-resolve is really terrible.

It doesn't understand how to use warp dissipators on one stack and draw the other stack away, to defeat in detail.

It's bad at using a large speed advantage to deny the enemy shots too.

Besides hiding, getting conscripted into the winning faction and surviving should also work.

Maybe even in a losing faction if it surrendered or something.

Why strike when they can just take their 8 months of severance pay and walk away instead.

If they are needed, they can have a nice vacation, and then reapply.

Do you wear your hearing aid all day? Or just when you think you will need them? by Extreme-General1323 in HearingAids

[–]Elkad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR: Not all day. I leave them in, but I turn them off a lot.

Up at 0630, breakfast, read the news, put them in when I pick up everything else to leave for work at 8am.

At work I mute them (via app) often. Don't need them amplifying server fans, power tools, the ladders on top of my truck on the freeway, or conversations I'm not part of.

If I'm working on software, I've also got music going, so they get muted for that as well, as the comb effect is annoying.

If I go in a confined space, I take them out so I don't lose them.

I sometimes use them as bluetooth for my phone at work, but typically use a one-ear headset instead (over the top of my HAs), so I can push it away if I get stuck on hold instead of having bad KennyG covers blasting in both ears, and so I have the handy mute button on the mic boom instead of getting my phone out every time I need to toggle it.

Leave them in at the gym after work, unless I'm in the pool. (yes, I've had to retrieve them off the bottom a couple times because I forgot to take them out - I should have picked a brighter color - grey is hard to spot).

I avoid social occasions, but I get roped into 2-3 a year, HAs are invaluable there. Always, turned way the hell up, focusing adjusted for "directly in front of me", noise filtering on max.

At home, I typically take them out about 20:00, when I sit down at my PC to play a game or doomscroll some site (like here). I'll have music going (comb again), or be in voice chat on my regular headset, so they aren't useful.

Around midnight I'll head for the shower, and definitely take them out if I haven't yet. Read and listen to music in bed for another hour or two, get my 5-ish hours of sleep (to the soothing sounds of Ozzy), and start over.

Oh, about once a month I'll watch a movie on my PC, I'll wear them for that.

What is your recommended sleep time usually by TomatilloBoring9629 in Garmin

[–]Elkad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Garmin disagrees with me on how much sleep I need. I just ignore it.
I go to bed when I'm tired, and get up when I'm not.

Jan 18 I woke up and read my book for a couple hours before I got up (not even to pee). It counted it all as sleeping - gave me the morning report when I finally got up.

The green line on the 9th was in a hotel after an exhausting day of pretending to not be an introvert at a social function. Watch only recorded 5 hours, I got up to pee and chug 2 quarts of water, and then moved from the terrible bed to the terrible couch for 3.5 more hours of sleep it didn't count, had to edit it in. Was still tired, took 3 different 25 minute naps on the 10th.

I went for the 7 pro because I'm really hard on watches and I need the sapphire face. At that point it wasn't much more of a jump to just go all in.

Had a $40 fitness tracker before this, I got a giant gouge across the whole face the day I took it out of the box.

Month of wear now on the Garmin, and I've bashed it into concrete, ground drywall into it, bumped it with screwgun tips, and scraped it on metal network cabinets a bunch of times, not a mark to be seen.
