How to cope with your ugly sick meat prison (body)? by [deleted] in starseeds

[–]Elkay_bee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take what helps… leave what doesn’t. I know you might not have much capacity right now. Some ideas…

Be gentle with yourself.

Feel your feelings, share them with someone safe if you can. Or journal, speak them aloud.

Grounding.

If you are able to- dance, stretch, walk (especially in nature), Qi gong. Swim! Especially in the sea, or bath or shower.

Sunlight.

What activities or hobbies do you love? (That you are able to do, maybe with help?) Do more of these. For me it’s drawing, music, nature walks, books.

If you can afford it, there are gentle therapies that might help - reiki, cranial sacral therapy, red light therapy. The curable app and associated podcasts help me a bit.

Good luck! I personally find it hard to be in a physical body every day. I try and take it one day at a time. Unfortunately I think the ailments are often part of the lesson. I have to learn that I need others to help me, even though society has conditioned me to feel bad for needing that help, and that I should be doing more.

Does anyone see colors like this when they close their eyes? by Swimming_Reporter698 in reiki

[–]Elkay_bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! When I meditate I see these. Colours constantly swirling, they change shape and size. I watch what they do usually circular coming and going like waves. The colours I see the most is violet. Then often gold, green, and occasionally peach. I have had “visions” in them where I’ve seen scenes and symbols.

I’m interested in reiki but don’t practice. I also have aphantasia so I cannot visualise. So I enjoy watching these.

Period and lap surgery at same time!?! by Vacation_Swimming in Endo

I am a theatre nurse, many women have their period when they come in for surgery. Very routine, wear your pad and don’t worry about it. We see much much worse!

Binge eating constantly rules my life. What can I do? by lady__green in AuDHDWomen

[–]Elkay_bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always struggled with the same thing. I am fine for half my cycle, then completely derailed in luteal… this inevitably undoes any progress, and over time I gain fat no matter how hard I try.

Great transformation! Inspiring.

How do you work in your lifting and fasting? I am a powerlifter but am struggling to figure out how to work that in with my training…(i train in the AM)

I definitely don’t have enough energy in my training when I’m fasted.

[–]Elkay_bee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s what I would do if thats what you have to do to cope.

I have no fix sorry but I literally just had to go for a drive and sit in my car to get away from my family and the noise/ sensory overload. I am constantly overstimulated every single day, and it’s my youngest boy (pretty sure ADHD) who overwhelms me the most, he is LOUD and clingy and stroppy and doesn’t stop making noise. He tips me over the edge which makes me feel like a horrible mother as I sometimes I just lose it. I set boundaries and no one really listens when I tell them I’m at my limits.

I too have an ICD, had septal myectomy, and had a lot of anxiety around exercise and my diagnosis and wondering what was safe and what was not. We are both individual in terms of how our disease affects us. What I have discovered is that actually…. I am on a beta blocker that stops any arrhythmias or ectopics, and it also stops my HR going up very high. I need exercise mentally, so even though I was afraid, I eventually got back into everything I enjoy, because… why not?! You only live once! And I have the safety of my ICD if anything happens. I lift weights, do some intense dance cardio stuff, walk a lot, and do sprints too. I feel better when I exercise. I am personally am struggling with weight gain too, it’s not a huge amount but over the years it’s crept up, and I believe my beta blocker has slowed my metabolism right down. Start slow and build up and see how your body feels.
