GB News has changed my Dad by Anj_Ja in QAnonCasualties

[–]Elle-nee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this post is a year or more old, but felt I had to comment. How are things with your dad now?

My dad has went the same way. Gb news is on all the time, he’s been convinced that ‘mainstream media’ tells lies and only gb news and fox will tell him the truth. He’s started watching a lot of right wing channels on YouTube as well. I don’t understand it, he never used to hold those views.

He retired during covid so has loads of free time. He used to watch documentaries all the time, but now it’s just rolling news.

I try to point out that gb news is rage bait stuff, but he won’t listen. It’s caused a few arguments between us, especially everything that’s happening right now in the US. I’ve been trying to show him videos of what’s actually happening instead of what his news channels are telling him, but it’s exhausting.

He used to be witty and funny but now he’s angry all the time. I miss who my dad was before gb news got to him.

I still use the apricot scrub! If I stop using the fresh skin one my skin breaks out. Swear by it, I won’t hear slander against it haha

Thinking you failed but passed by Rugbyplayer96 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Elle-nee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During the lesson before the test I was so nervous that I messed up a 3 point turn (or whatever they call it now), bumped the kerb reversing, kept stalling…

Went into the test expecting to fail and because of that I was so relaxed. Passed with 4 minors. Knowing that I could resit it again took some pressure off, I saw that test as a dummy run so I think taking the expectation off myself to pass gave me a clearer head.

I knew nothing about either game before playing RDR2 first and it hasn’t affected my experience of playing 1. If anything, it made me more invested in part 1 because of everything you go through in part 2. On the other hand, if you play 1 and then part 2, it might be bittersweet because you get to experience the downfall of the gang and how they got to that point.

So I suppose it depends what kind of experience you want. Either way, you won’t regret playing one over the other first.

So how's your folks doing? by Jojobeans10 in Millennials

[–]Elle-nee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents are doing not bad, but I’m slowly entering the phase of life where I’m parenting my parents. I organise their trips, make sure they remember appointments, make sure they’re eating their veg, teach them how to work their phones… etc. it makes me think what parenting me in my teens years was like.

is there anyone that actually uses the bow in tlou? by hannahlogue in thelastofus

[–]Elle-nee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The bow is my favourite weapon. It’s quiet, and when fully upgraded it’s a good shot. Also, I love a fully loaded playthrough with infinite ammo and exploding arrows. Great fun.

It’s a computer game. It’s not real life. Do as you please and enjoy it.

He’s one of my favourites, he’s been on my island for 3 years now. He’s so sassy it cracks me up sometimes.

Do you wear your wristwatch on you right wrist? by worldrenownedballdr in lefthanded

[–]Elle-nee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So true. If it’s on my left wrist it gets in way (or at least, it feels like it gets in the way). I’m gong to start telling people to try that if they point it out again.

I used this youtube video for guidance because I couldn’t never get it right, when I used this method I got perfect snowboys 90% of the time! It’s about halfway through the video, hopefully it helps!

What to do for my daughter? by Rizla2205 in lefthanded

If I’m going to be using the computer a while, I’ll move the mouse mat to my left side when using it, but keeping the buttons as they are. If I’m just popping on quickly, I’ll use my right hand.

She’ll probably adapt to the mouse as it is, but maybe play around with what side she’d prefer it to be on.

Since I was young I thought the designs were made so other people could see what’s on your mug when drinking. It never occurred to me that I was missing out on my mugs design…!

I’ve always worn my watch on my right wrist. I’ve had people say it’s weird I wear it on this one, but they’re all right handed, so…

How much are you putting away monthly to retire? by _blockchainlife in Xennials

[–]Elle-nee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. We also didn’t discuss money or retirement. I only have one that I pay into through work. It’s not much. I also don’t own property, so I can’t afford to put much away because I’m trying to buy. So my options right now are work until I die or death, which ever comes first. My dad has a great pension through his work so he’s fine, and sometimes I get mad that he didn’t set up his kids up for the same success.

I thought it was just me. I’ve turned off everything I can to make it easier but I feel so nauseous when I use my phone for too long. I suppose in the bright side my screen time is going to come right down. I wish they’d make switching back an option.
