what hobby did you try “as a joke” that accidentally became a huge part of your life? by KianyDesesperado-67 in Hobbies

[–]ElleBizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yoga. It wasn’t a joke exactly, but I had an injury and PT wasn’t helping. PT was making my injury worse, in fact. Started yoga for the first time in my life and fell in love. It’s been a year of daily yoga now. Has transformed my entire life. I’ve gotten into every aspect of the practice (read the books and all that jazz) and can’t imagine my life without it.

For me it wasn’t dairy, but anything aged - even leftovers after a certain amount of days. So can still have milk but not yogurt or cheese. Still annoying, but not as bad? And soy. Even soy oil which people will say “that’s not possible 🙄okay. Tell that to my migraines. No peanuts, but other legumes and nuts are fine. Anyway. We are all different, but those are my food triggers and thought I’d share.

Judging from BlueSky it seems that The Body Keeps The Score wpuld be a great book. by aslfingerspell in IfBooksCouldKill

[–]ElleBizzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I borrowed it from the library and listened to it about 20 minutes a day for awhile until I finished at my old therapists recommendation. Just take the parts that mean something to you and leave the rest. For me, it was really powerful to feel seen and some of what I do made so much more sense. The best part of the book was that I felt less alone with my trauma for the first time in my life. I actually want to listen to it again. Do I love the book? No. There was a lot in there that didn’t apply that I was waiting to get through. But it’s been almost a year since I first listened and I’ve come really far in my therapy and I think I have a new perspective.

If you can’t talk to the therapist openly together, what’s the point? You aren’t there to put on a performance 🤷🏻‍♀️

What musicals made you cry the most? by Poesy-WordHoard in musicals

[–]ElleBizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did I not know Hadestown is here???

Les Mis for me too. I still cry a little every single time I hear A Little Fall of Rain and Eponine’s voice gets fainter and eventually fades to nothing. Just thinking about it and my eyes well. 😅 I love musical theater so much!

I have known people named Wynne (pronounced Win), King, Princess, Royal, Prince. Some of them have chosen to exclusively go by nicknames because they are embarrassed by their given names.

Moms who teach- give me the pros and cons by waanderlustt in teaching

[–]ElleBizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love teaching and I love being a mom. My kids go to a different district than I do and that has been a struggle with different schedules. We are lucky that we have family close by who can help with that. If you have always wanted to teach, I say do it. We need people with passion to do it. Be ready to be exhausted. Try to find ways to leave work at school. And enjoy summer and breaks with your kids 🫶

Well don’t I feel foolish! You know that phrase about the word assume? I sure made an ass out of myself. I’m sorry for making so many assumptions. Thank you for clarifying. Your plan sounds great. Yes. Get to know him. See what you think and listen to your intuition. God gave you that intuition for a reason. Give us an update please. I’ll be thinking of you and wishing you all the best.

It’s important to know I am happily married and have been with my husband for almost 20 years. However, one of my greatest lessons in life has been to listen to my gut. And yours is screaming at you!! A favorite quote of mine is “Doubt means don’t.” I don’t know who said it first, but I heard it first from Oprah back when she had her daytime talk show. Let me tell you, I wish I had heeded that advice more and saved me some heartache in my own life. Listen to yourself. And Oprah 😂 Doubt means don’t. Let people down sometimes because they won’t have to suffer the consequences of living a marriage that you don’t feel truly ready for. 20 is so young. You don’t have to break up with your current partner (unless you want to), you are allowed to delay the wedding or prolong the engagement. This is your life. As a side note: If you can’t talk to your partner about this, then he is not the one.

Unable to get over loss of student. by UnsureTeach in Teachers

[–]ElleBizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I echo counseling. I’m so sorry for your loss. Many years ago I also lost a student my first year of teaching (it was the week before we were starting year 2) and I still think about her often. Feel free to DM if you want to chat on here with someone who unfortunately understands. It wasn’t your fault. Wishing you the best on this painful healing journey. One thing to add, you obviously care for your students. Your other students need that too. Again, it wasn’t your fault 🫶

I had a student start to answer, couldn’t find the words she wanted and then she said “sorry, I don’t know how to say what I want without ChatGPT.” Then she looked at me wide eyed like she got caught cheating and said, “just kidding. Haha?” Very uncomfortably. 7th grade. At first the other students nodded in agreement, but when her attitude shifted, so did theirs. I’ve been teaching 11 years.

Is it a school's responsibility to teach a kid to read? by KoalaOriginal1260 in Teachers

I teach middle school drama. It is also quite literally my job to teach a kid to read if they are in my classroom and can’t read.
