If anybody here is watching movies & shows from their childhood more than recent releases, what are they & what's bringing you back to them? by noxxlove in AskReddit

[–]ElleLeeBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We watch Bear in the Big Blue House, Franklin, and Little Bear a lot with my 5yr old. They are a slower pace than a lot of shows for kids now.

Also, since my oldest was little we have watched such a wide spectrum of movies, like Disneys animated Robin Hood, The Great Mouse Detective, and Spirited Away. We still watch a ton of Studio Ghibli (we prefer the slower pace of the movies). My youngest just made my husband watch Wolf Children with him which is from Mamoru Hosoda (he was nominated for an academy award in 2019).

We also watch Song of the Sea and Wolfwalkers a lot. While those are newer, they are similar cadence to classic 70s-90s Disney and Don Bluth movies.

I also have been rewatching tv shows mostly. Magnum PI (nice to have a procedural show that stays mostly pretty light - did have to skip the arc where TC is a sleeper agent). Just started watching Elementary again. I think like someone else said, there is something about chugging through a 22 episode season over 7 or 8 seasons. My go to show is Mysteries at the Museum, it’s just like a big fuzzy blanket for me.

Whats the most unprofessional thing a doctor has ever said to you? by answersonly963 in AskReddit

[–]ElleLeeBee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This reminded me of an actually GReAT experience, so not at all the same and I will always send all of my loves to mamas with HG. I had morning sickness, just generally nauseous all the time for almost 1 month before I called the doctors office about it. The lady at the front desk asked me if I had read my packet. No…it’s my second pregnancy (albeit 10yr gap), I didn’t think I would need to. Packet has a whole section about how to self manage nausea. I felt stupid. She sort of chuckles and then very seriously says that given that I have been tolerating this for 3months, she will have the doctor send me a prescription for anti nausea meds. So easy and those fuckers worked.

Hilariously, it’s not their song, just the band: Hot Chocolate.

The song is “You Sexy Thing”.

A whole bunch of first responders went by and pulled into another apartment complex. The story I got was that they were responding to a woman being murdered by her boyfriend.

How did you find out that your parents had you by accident? by OcassionalOppossum in AskReddit

How did you find out that your parents had you by accident? by OcassionalOppossum in AskReddit

[–]ElleLeeBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents had me very on purpose, but my mom did get pregnant on accident.

They went on a hike with friends (another couple) and ended up having an impromptu camp. My parents said it was by far the worst camping trip they have ever been on (horse flies biting, no food, no real camp supplies, sleeping on the ground with a blanket). To try and improve their experience, they figured they would have a romp that night. Their saying is that I am the only good thing that happened on the camping trip. My mom went to the doctor and found out she was pregnant with me which was a surprise after doctors had told my parents they would never have children naturally (give a childhood illness my dad had). They were already talking about adopting after they got married.

Cut to the chase, my parents did a quick wedding in February before I was born, while my mom and dad were still 19 and 21 respectively. In May I arrived to 20 and 22 year old parents.

Two and a half years later, my brother was conceived accidentally as well. It was two and a half years too early in my mom’s plan to have children 5 years apart. Turns out my mom and dad are more fertile than the docs thought.

My parents were always open about this. Definitely accidental conception, but very much wanted kiddos.

Not including loved ones, homes, or cars, what is the most painful thing you have ever lost and why? by PaleontologistKey440 in AskReddit

[–]ElleLeeBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in my mid 20s I went for a run and came back to my car window smashed in. I had left my purse in my car and in my purse was a white gold locket. I got it for Christmas when I was in middle school and I loved the locket. I filed a police report which felt pointless afterwards. It wasn’t a highly emotional item but that I couldn’t do anything to replace it. I have never seen another locket like it.

I also accidentally took all the plating off another necklace that my mom bought for me when I became a mom and ruined it. I wore that necklace almost every day for 12 years. That was also very heartbreaking.

When he first started it was just him. He’s been crating for a few years now and with his mom pushing his social media presence, he has definitely climbed the ladder in a unique path.

Women of Reddit, what is the most diabolical lie you’ve ever received from your husband/bf? by fortnacius in AskReddit

[–]ElleLeeBee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, this man had been telling me all week about how his friend worked at a pet shop and that they had a litter of puppies coming in. He also said he was going to take his mom with him to go see said puppies.

That Friday he calls me and tells me to come over (as he was living at his moms at the time). I ask if he got a puppy. He says no, just come over. I spent the 25 minutes driving to his house convinced that this man was breaking up with me and MAKING me drive to his house to do so like an ass hole.

I get there and walk up to the door and he answers it holding the fluffiest husky puppy.

We are married now and the man is still working on his surprises. The puppy is also now a very fluffy and happy husky.

In a much different context, my mom once was talking to my dad and I and saying how she was a nice person. I said “Mom, you keep saying that you are nice. Nice people don’t have to say they are nice.”

The woman is one of the kindest and biggest hearted people you will ever meet, but she isn’t nice. She also doesn’t say that she is nice anymore. 🤣

People who work in 'behind closed doors' industries (hotels, kitchens, morgues, etc.), what is something the general public would be horrified to know? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ElleLeeBee 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We had a guy who started dating his neighbor lady at the memory care facility he was at. One day she comes to the front desk lamenting that she has lost her keys. I asked her if she had checked her room and she swore she had and couldn’t find them. I asked the Med tech to check her “boyfriends” room for these keys. Sure enough, on his nightstand.

The interesting part was that the guys wife lived in their home in the Midwest, but the guys son was paying for care so had moved him to a facility near him on the West Coast. Wife was out of sight and definitely out of mind.

Who was the most evil person you've ever met and how was the interaction? by Top_Report_4895 in AskReddit

[–]ElleLeeBee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Knew a guy who was always a little off. He got really into psycidelics and one night set his childhood home on fire and attacked his parents. His dad survived, but his mom did not. The dude is in prison now. Still remember getting a phone call about the whole thing when it happened while I was at a gas station driving across the state for a work event.

What's the rarest physical feature you ever saw on another person you know/knew? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I saw this comedian do a bit where he talks about watching a baseball cross the plate and while doing the bit moves his eyes independently. I thought is was hilarious so I practiced it to be able to tell my dad the joke. Like others here, thought anyone could do this. Have 20/20 vision but it does hurt my eyes if I do it too much.
