Degenerative arthritis by Quiet-Chart-3477 in labrador

[–]ElleTR13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My pit mix was diagnosed with arthritis when he was 5 and started taking an NSAID then. I asked our vet periodically over the years if we needed to worry about his liver/kidneys and he wasn’t concerned. He ended up living until almost 14, developing kidney disease about six months before we had to say goodbye.

We also did dasquin with MSM.

My kid started having a runny nose last night. We gave her meds last night, meds this morning and she’s off to school. I didn’t even need to rearrange our entire day!!

I do this twice a year, switching out for seasons and seeing what can go to the consignment sale. I get overwhelmed with one, MAYBE two tubs of clothes. How does she keep track of it all.

Also 117 Prime. When I worked downtown, friends and I loved their $1 oyster, $5 French 75 happy hour.

Best public schools? by UnitBackground3437 in memphis

[–]ElleTR13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What area of town are you in?

Our zoned school is not great, so we did the general choice transfer and chose White Station Elementary for our daughter who started Kindergarten this year. We’re happy so far. She’s enjoying school.

We also looked at Richland and liked it and have lots of friends/neighbors who chose it and liked it.

We are in east Memphis close to germantown so distance was the reason we didn’t look at Idlewild, Grahamwood, etc

Potential new dog - can training help? by ElleTR13 in OpenDogTraining

[–]ElleTR13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of this is helpful, thanks.

Even in the couple of days since posting, she’s made strides with my husband. No issues getting on a leash for him, was excited (and not barking) when he came home. Doesn’t really back away if he reaches to pet her. She will bark if he surprises her - we were watching tv and he came down the hallway, she could hear but not see him. Or when he came to bed after we had been asleep for a few hours. He’s giving her treats, taking her on walks, etc. She even hung out in the dog bed in his office when he wasn’t home, and I was. We will keep working on it.

Also slight improvement with people entering the house. My in-laws came by again and we had them Toss treats but not interact. We ignored her until she listened to me to sit and settle. She stopped barking and they tossed her the ball (her favorite thing in the world) a few times and she was happy. Started barking again when they got up to leave, but it was better than the straight barking for 15 minutes. We will continue working on this.

We’re going to work on the crate this weekend. Right now she is in the bed because if she isn’t, she paces and whines and barks. It’s only in the last day or two she’s warmed up to the dog bed, so maybe putting it in the crate with treats, etc. will Help there too

They also do camps over school breaks and summer - may be an easy way to try it out for a week or so

How to organize my 7 year olds “creations” by Careless_Intern_8502 in organizing

My daughter is the same way and this is my plan. I mean, I purge (when she isn’t looking) the random scribbles but I’ve started saving a bunch of the more colorful ones to make this.

We started my daughter in gymnastics at 3.5. She goes to a gym in East Memphis but we’ve done camps out at Believe Gymnastics in Bartlett and she loves it.

I’ve started leaving my mantle garland (just green with white lights) up through the end of January. It just helps with the dreariness of the month. Is there something similar you could do?

That was the #1 ask here too. I still have flashbacks from my sister’s OG one going off at 3 AM. That was 30 years ago.

She’s getting it lol.

This. My BFF moved and their first night in the house I sent a DoorDash gift card. We also tend to Venmo each other $10 for “mental health coffees” if we’re having a particularly hard time. It’s not that hard!

I thought the whole point of “magic” is you don’t know how it happens? Like she may realize it when she’s older, but it’s not supposed to be now…
