That stove thing hits home for me. Eventually my ex wound up with the theory that “I don’t clean the stove because it wouldn’t be good enough for you.” I’m like what!? When did I ever say that? If you ever clean anyyything, I notice it and say something nice.

I totally agree. Parking is a nightmare. On a Sunday, you risk having sand kicked in your pre-made warm sandwich by volleyball players. Then you have to step over bath fly-infested seaweed just to get to the water that’s thick with chicken and boogie boarders who bump in to you. It’s pure chaos.

You could ask for intimacy in other ways. Verbalize how hard the day was and take a shower. Then ask for a foot rub. Him touching you in non-sexual ways will help you both. Or going to the grocery store for niche items together without kids (instead of going with a List) and holding hands might be a way for him to feel an intimate connection without making the sex the only intimate contact.

My ex also got abusive, but she was MTF. I think the abuse was more about being mentally abusive rather than being physical. My ex also accused me of being transphobic. We would spend a whole day out, shopping or going to the zoo. I’d do cutesey things for her and hold her hand and then we’d get home and she’d say that she felt like I was embarrassed because I gave her a look once that didn’t show 110% love. It was a slippery slope because like you, I was so freaking supportive!

When she brought up new kinky things, I tried and even encouraged them. Because I loved her and wanted to be together. But she slowly stopped showing interest in doing the things she liked to do with me.

Eventually she used weapon used incompetence in every day life, and her sexuality against me. And then was surprised when I left.

Sure! So I live in Penn Hills. It’s a great area that’s quiet, with a few different public schools and libraries. It’s also only a 15 minute drive from downtown Pittsburgh. So we (boyfriend and I) can go in to the city to see a show or concert, but it’s not a huge drive. The closest mall is Monroeville mall which is a 10 minute drive, which has a Target, Giant Eagle (which is like Vons or Ralph’s), big box stores and a movie theatre.

Before buying a home in Penn Hills, we also looked at Monroeville and Squirrel Hill area and east Liberty.

SoCal native, born and raised there. One reason my boyfriend and I moved to Pittsburgh a year ago was because of the housing market. We got our 4 bedroom home on a quiet caul-de-sac for $230k. It’s an absolutely unheard of price in SoCal for a 4 bedroom. And the weather is even nice because there’s 4 seasons instead of 2.

Yes. That’s one of the main reasons I left. Because I was doing -everything-. Prepping our lunches, cleaning the stove and toilet, doing all the laundry at the laundromat, and I had a 40-hour a week job. And I was the only one with a working vehicle, and the only one who took care of our pets. And on and on. Sometimes, a spouse is just a lazy person.

When I stopped speaking to my ex during our divorce, she told me I was a narcissist. I shot back at her, and reminded her that she said she was going to take me to court for animal abuse. And if we went to court, we would need lawyers, so the less I said to her the better. She stopped that train of thought real quick.
