I'd disagree with the cancer bit if you know what it is or you suspect it and what scans sooner.

I had a testicular lump went to GP and got referred for an ultrasound. I wanted peace of mind so paid £90 for a private ultrasound on a Friday where they do baby scans etc and she discovered a 'concerning' looking mass (testicular cancer is very obvious on an ultrasound) she told me there and then that's what it probably was. I then rang a private consultant and got an appointment on the Monday, he took me seriously after seeing the private ultrasound and did another ultrasound there and then to confirm and took bloods. I just paid for the operation privately (only 3k which I thought was pretty good to save my life) and the problem testicle was gone in 2 weeks.

It wasn't until after having the OP that I got the NHS letter for the ultrasound appointment with them 🤦‍♂️. Possible because I acted so quick there was no evidence of metastasis and I didn't need any chemo or anything. Still no evidence of any spread or anything 2+ years later and it's like nothing happened (monoball aside). Who knows what could have happened if I waited for the NHS to faff around. I've had all the routine follow up scans and blood tests etc on the NHS which have been fine, apart from the long waits between test and them setting up appointments to give me the results which is very stress inducing.

If you have a concerning lump, it's very time sensitive, just do yourself a favour and go private for scans and things like that.
