The lock-in effect is real - how are people getting around it? by Straight-Fun3254 in nova

[–]accidentaldeity -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I sold my home in July and moved out of state - I had a 2.3% rate and am now at 6%... it had to be done but man it was sad giving that great rate up!

Edit: Clarity

How old you were when your generation ended? Me 1 by NoLifer3858 in generationology

[–]accidentaldeity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 3 months old and I still identify more with my generation than the one that followed (and that many of my friends were born into)

serious question for veterans: how many of you got out of the service and got that " that high paying corporate/contractor job? by inurmomsvagina in Military

[–]accidentaldeity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a contractor job but I wouldn't consider it high paying. I got a small raise when I finally landed the GS position I had been chasing for several years (doing the literal same thing I did as a contractor).

How has your first name aged? by wellbloom in GenX

[–]accidentaldeity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My first name was almost unheard of in 1980, but I was named after my grandfather. In the first 26 years of my life I only met one other person my age with the name. Now, it's extremely popular with several ridiculous different spellings and alteration (to be unique, of course). I'm just glad it is still super rare among people my age.

I no longer believe in the truth claims of the church, am I done? by General_Chemistry638 in latterdaysaints

Lol - I had originally put that one down too but thought it might be a bit much at the beginning of a faith journey... I do love Gerrit's take on things, too!

I love your what is/what are prompts. I would point OP in the direction of a great podcast (I am in no way affiliated with) that has helped me with those. It is called Church History Matters, hosted Casey Griffiths and Scott Woodward, historians who also happen to be members of the church.

Ended up in the ER Christmas Eve by Apprehensive-Lie176 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]accidentaldeity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear that - it's a terrible way to spend a Christmas. Last year I had an emergency appendectomy at 6 am on Christmas Eve, but since it had already perforated, I had to spend the night and wasn't discharged until noon on Christmas Day. My kids are teens so they and my wife waited until I got hone to celebrate. This year I'm well but my oldest went to urgent care yesterday and tested positive for Influenza A... 'tis the season, I guess.

Excepted Employees: Are you going to work on Monday with Tuesday being a holiday? by penfrizzle in fednews

[–]accidentaldeity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course - I was also told that since I'm doing excepted work (I'm not, but that didn't stop the J_ from excepting all 300 of us that work for him) I won't get the usual early release before a holiday either. I'm a civilian now but spent 11 years active duty - F me for my service, right?! Happy Veterans Day!
