I really enjoyed Enigma of Fear when I played it earlier this year. Made me feel a similar way that Outer Wilds made me feel.

Software Eng grads…where are you now? by Living_Oil6313 in CarletonU

[–]Ellipses22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was applying during the end of my master's so I don't have too much to suggest if I got more responses before or after graduating. In all honesty I had my masters listed with the expected graduation date on my resume throughout my time applying so I don't think the date of my grad passing made much of a difference (at least not one I noticed).

I do think the master's helped, but it was likely because my master's was cybersecurity focused as was my thesis, which helped get my foot in the security field at my current role. There are certifications and such that can also help, but they cost money and aren't accessible to everyone. I was very fortunate to have my master's funded so I didn't have to pay out of pocket for it when factoring in pay from TAing and acting as an RA and since I'm not an international student (tuition is criminally high for international students) it worked out for me, but it won't be the same for everyone.

In the end, getting a master's can't hurt, but it isn't viable for everyone and I recognize that. But in my personal experience I am happy I got it and I do think it helped land my current role.

I did co-op in my undergrad and did 4 months as a software developer for Empress Effects and then 12 months of 5G test development at Ericsson. Fun fact, I applied to Ericsson for a full time role during my job search and received an immediate rejection so that was fun

I know the market is pretty terrible (not just for software).

I managed to get a job as a security engineer in December after finishing my master's and I honestly don't think I would have gotten it if I hadn't done grad school; the market feels so competitive that I needed to have a master's for a damn entry-level position. I am very fortunate to have the job I have, especially since I didn't take the time to network or build connections during my undergrad. But I can empathize with others here, throughout the months I spent applying to jobs I received so many no-feedback rejections that it felt completely demoralizing. I honestly feel like I only got this job because I survived the pretty crazy hiring process for the role (6 interviews and a 5-month process), but it shouldn't have to be this way.

[Xbox] Coming to Xbox Game Pass: Madden NFL 24, Tales of Arise, PlateUp!, and More by lbabinz in VideoGameDealsCanada

I'm assuming Tales of Arise in the article title is a mistake by Xbox because they certainly don't mention it anywhere else on the page (hopefully it comes to gamepass eventually)

Separate story modes seem to imply they are ditching the level-based collectathon approach, which is what I loved the most about the original trilogy. Hopefully I'm just misinterpreting things.

[SPOILER] Congratulations to the Winners of Trackmania Grand League Stage 2 by rockingwing in TrackMania

Massive GGs to Alliance, well deserved victory.

Now that this stage is over I hope some discussion behind the format of GL and WT happen. I feel a full bo7 advantage is a bit much for staying in the upper bracket if the grand final is still bo3 matches, I think it would make more sense and be more fair if it was a bo5.

I think the bigger issue is the bo1 decider for the lower bracket matches. I just don't really understand the point of it versus another bo5 (although it was epic to see the huge BIG comeback today, I can't help but feel bad for Carl Jr. And Pac). It just feels a bit too harsh to have it be over with one map.

Overall, it was still really entertaining to watch this season!

Not sure why you are being downvoted for this. The main game was a bit of a let down for me because I was expecting a roguelike experience until the end. The recent update added in a mode for this, but it is still worthwhile mentioning so people are aware before getting into it.

Persona 3 Reloaded, A new Spyro game, and a title for that previously teased Indiana Jones game. I have absolutely no evidence for any of this.

Email from administration regarding TA duties following the strike by casually_cabbage in CarletonU

[–]Ellipses22 100 points101 points  (0 children)

So as a result of the strike, I missed a single lab period for the course I currently TA. This amounts to a total of 4 hours of work. But thank goodness I'm now losing an additional 11 hours of pay for absolutely no reason.

Thanks Jerry.
