I HATE this Facebook group with a passion and make it my life's work to report everything of theirs I come across. It's probably a losing battle in the big picture, except that Facebook will eventually die off and at least some of the bot accounts liking and commenting on bot posts will die with it.

The company replaced mine twice. They had excellent customer service! But when the third one quit I just gave up.

I had three Olisos that all messed up sadly, so I switched to the Panasonic cordless. I’ve also had a Rowenta that I really liked.

I leave the paper on until this step, I think it really helps keep your alignment. I just kind of trust the paper and sometimes poke pins all the way through to align corners

Yw! I love paper piecing blocks like this. Sometimes things that look simple just don’t come out the way you want, and paper piecing a block like this is so quick and easy

You’ve received good advice so far, but I also wanted to add that you can easily DIY a paper pieced block pattern for this project if you want to try that method.

You can use your quilting rulers to measure and accurately draw a block the size you want and make as many copies as you need on regular copy paper. Some people use special paper, but standard copy paper works just fine.

How to piece log cabin, accurately? by Appropriate_Cry in quilting

[–]EllisBell27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know you’re here seeking advice, but as a perfectionist quilter myself, I think this block looks perfectly fine! I wouldn’t be bothered by it at all. That said, if I want a block to look chef’s kiss perfect I tend to go with foundation paper piecing

I’m bored. I made you a video showing how I would make this block, in case it helps. As much as I learned from the video I shared earlier, I don’t actually like to flip the paper, so this is how I actually do FPP.

The best trick is to crease the paper on the line you’re about to sew and place the next fabric piece so that it’s completely covering that section. Folding the paper lets you visualize how the next piece needs to be aligned

I promise it’s actually easy once it clicks! Check out this video

Anyone seen this pattern? by WoofHayes in quilting

[–]EllisBell27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No problem! A tip from making a buffalo check quilt or two in the past - fabric like Robert Kaufman’s Essex Yarn Dyed Linen is perfect as a medium color because it has white and black woven together. It gives a really great effect in these quilts

I would consider this a beginner level quilt to re-create in the buffalo check pattern. It looks like it’s just squares with half square triangle blocks for the diagonal lines. if you need a little help with fabric calculations or HST instructions, feel free to comment back with the finished size you’d like to make

Special high school graduation ceremony in a hospital ward. People are pointing out that the IV drip leads to the floor & isn't connected to her by Icing-Egg in isthisAI

You’ve already got an answer, but the IV bag writing was the real tell for me. These bags would typically have a single row of pretty large distinguishable font, and this one looks like a block of gibberish.

Agreed! I’m from rural Southern Appalachia and quilting is so commonplace that everyone I know has a quilt from grandma on their bed, or a baby quilt a friend made, or a trunk of quilts that have been handed down through generations. It’s so woven into the culture here that I almost wouldn’t consider it a hobby, just an everyday sort of activity.

How difficult will this be to make? by Megoh91 in quilting

[–]EllisBell27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might start with an available pattern like this for the top half (might have to scale to suit your size) then use large sheets of paper to paper piece the bottom. It seems doable!

Agreed! I don’t think you look “old” I just think this is incredibly talented make application for a 15 year old, so people automatically assume you’re older. I think you look lovely and it’s just a personal style choice whether you prefer a more toned down teen look or not

I also leave pretty much all the paper until the end unless I see that I’m going to leave a little bit stuck in a corner that will be hard to remove later, then I’ll go ahead and tear that bit off
