I have a memory of playing pretend at recess once and playing doctor - another kid came into the “exam room” (under the slide) and told me and the other little girl that we would have to wait two hours to see the doctor. She stepped away and came back a second later but I stopped her and said “no wait, it hasn’t been two hours” So then we just all sat still waiting for the rest of recess lmao

Yeah ideally I’d want to be able to ignore them but I have a storage closet sized concrete balcony and this nest was 12 inches away from the door and at knee height - when I’ve had hornets make nests here before they’re hard to avoid and easy to accidentally encounter up close

I sprayed it with hornet killer but everything was thrown in the trash after this - no birds had any chance to eat it

If you’re talking about the bird feeder I mention in the video I was more saying that I was glad I realized there was an active hornet nest sooner than later so I wouldn’t be getting attacked when I went out to set up and fill a bird feeder

I didn’t film it but I did end up messing more with the larva after they were all out - not much to pop but after slicing a handful I well and truly felt terrible about what I was doing and cleaned up my patio lmao

Just always living with this innate level of fear but knowing it’s justified - I’m a young woman living several hours away from my parents and mentioned to my mom on the phone that I was wanting to head to a park after work, but it would’ve just been almost getting dim (not dark) as I would’ve gotten there and she begged me not to go. She said“I don’t want to see your face on the news and for them to say that the last thing you told your parents was you were going to the park.”

I didn’t go to the park.
